Smiler Lady, not so bad. As I've been trying to brush up on my Japanese, I'm currently watching a show on youtube and all the subtitles are even in Japanese, so I'm trying to see what I can understand while watching it. very little

have finally unpacked everything and getting back to normal! thankfully my folks washed clothes for me when they got home on monday, otherwise i wouldn't have any clothes to wear

Ordering food is easy because most restaurants will have menus with pictures, as well as like these little plastic replicas of what they serve (which is pretty awesome) and a lot of places will have menus in English anyway, so it's just not a problem. this'll be a typical window display in Japan:



then if you know what you want to eat, ask for it and say 'onegaishimasu' which means please. that's pretty much all I knew, and went around eating at restaurants all the time over there food was pretty cheap too

as for asking where the toilet is, you say "toile wa doko desu ka"

toile means toilet obviously, wa indicates the subject, doko means where, desu (pronounced dess) roughly means 'is', and ka indicates it's a question. so you're saying: toilet (subject) where is (question). simple!
