Redundancy questions

Hi everyone
Just wondering about a co-worker who was let go before Christmas

,was there three years .

He wasn't paid redundancy because they told him that his job still exists and they were just not renewing his contract. If they don't replace him with another does that mean that he would have to be paid Redundancy and if so what kind of time frame, i was thinking 3 months . Thanks for any help in this.

What sort of contract did he have? If it was fixed term contract that was renewed (or not) every year, then he's not entitled to redundancy - and the end of year 3 is the most likely time for his contract to not be renewed.

He did work continuously on a fixed term contract so by law should have got redundancy if his job no longer exist but they stated that they were not renewing his contract and this job still exist so they didn't have to pay him, he worked directly for the company and not an agency workers placed by a temporary work agency like that shower CPL.
