I know they blocked access to The Pirate Bay a few years ago. Looks like they've now blocked access to Kickass Torrents.

Are these sites blocked by other ISP's too (e.g UPC who I'm thinking of moving to), or just Eircom?

Piratebay is blocked on all, Kickass and all the others are available on UPC, but i'm sure it won't be long before all follow suit.

    Proxy baby :pac:

Yeah, Proxy is the way to go. Was just curious as I have had no end of problems with Eircom broadband in any case, so might be time for me to switch.

Just this morning as far as I know - or maybe yesterday. I don't think I can post the URL here, but used the main site, not the proxy address.

Kickass is available on UPC. Wouldn't worry about blocks though as there are plenty of proxies floating about for both.

Or just use piratesh*t.com. It's like a piratebay mirror or something.

No need to use a different site, just google as usual.

Yep, just checked, Kickass blocked on eircom with me too:mad:

Running your own proxy is such wasted effort. Every torrenting site has its own dedicated proxy website, where basically it gives you the proxies to circumvent.

Google it and youll be fine within seconds, without having to setup proxies and the sorts.

Think it's the same site as piratebay....looks exactly the same. Just a different domain name.

    Bans handed out,
Guys, may I remind you to read the forum charter and be aware of boards.ie rules.
Posting links to torrent sites is not ok

Blocked on Vodafone today now too (efibre), interesting.

I suppose it does put off casual downloaders. But of course the real question is where does it end... I follow the torrentfreak news website (NOTE TO MODS: THIS IS A TECHNOLOGY NEWS WEBSITE) to keep up to date with what's going on in the world of net neutrality, torrents, copyright etc. Will they decide that this website is too informative for wannabe pirateers and block that too? It's a bit worrying.

I just wanted to be careful!

My brother has just pointed out to me that while ISPs in the UK block a lot of torrent websites, they also have blocked NZB / usenet indexing sites. Is this the way it's going in Ireland? Does anyone know of any ongoing court cases?

If it's blocked, there should be a redirect to a page with a court case decision number, just as with Piratebay.

So is it actually blocked, or simply failing to connect?

This is what you get if you try to access the site on eircom.

This is the message I get:

ACCESS TO THIS IP ADDRESS RELATING TO THIS WEBSITE HAS BEEN BLOCKED

If you have questions or concerns that you would like to discuss please contact:
    eircom broadband support on 1890 260 260.
    Meteor support on 1905.
    eMobile support on 1 800 690000.

I get the same message for The Pirate Bay. No court case decision number on either message for me.

Note to mods, not a torrent site, type into address bar > hidemyass.com < enter any web address as normal then. If mod wants to delete for any reasons, feel free

It might be a good idea to ask in the Eircom forum is this a screw up as part of their regular level of incompetence, or if they've now decided that they're the arbiter of what people can and can't see.

Is there a ban on links to all torrent sites or just the ones banned by the sherlock order?

Torrentfreak is blocked by David Cameron's alleged "anti porn" family filters.
Don't like to say "I told you so", but I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one pointing out to those in favour of filtering porn that the government would abuse it to block other stuff as well

Anyway, meh. It's so easy to get around this stuff anyway :D

Kickass now blocked on Vodafone DSL.

Can we discuss proxies or is that not allowed?
