I really hope you're not serious, as it's ultimately our (tax) money that dole frauds are stealing.

    I'm very serious.

    Claiming disability and working: Yes.

Milking the SMA for all it's worth while "Daddy" essentially lives there too: Yes.

Someone living with their parents, put to around 5K per year because of it and only gets temporary jobs -which are usually cash- which brings his years take to, say, a massive 8 or 9K: No, I wouldn't.

I thought you are still able to claim some disability while working?

Not the government you are fupping. It's honest, hardworking people.
do you really think if there was no dole cheats and noone done it and the government saved a fortune that the honest hard working people would ever see any of it? not a chance. wages are so low no that i dont blame people doing some cash work to try earn a living

I think if you want to rat on them, they should let them know who did it.

You never really know what a person is earning doing nixers.

It's up to the state to discover whether or not they should pay tax

Not sure what you are talking about here. The thread is "If you knew your neighbour was a dole cheat would you report him/her" Nothing about doing work for cash.

You can indeed, but I mean getting greedy and claiming the whole shebang for something like a knee or back defect that keeps them supposedly from walking properly, while they work in something a man in their "condition" really shouldn't.

Mint Aero & end of the road, don't post in this thread again.

If it's someone who's working and claiming the dole when they're not entitled to, of course I would.

It's not snitching in a bad sense, dole cheats are scum. They are getting free money, money that is taken out of your pay packet.

That person's dole could go towards funding hospitals or other services that badly need money.

I can understand people who wouldn't report it simply because of the effort, ( ) but anyone who wouldn't do it simply because of some stupid principles like 'I'm not a snitch' must be not well.

Many ways of being a dole cheat. You don't necessarily have to be doing cash jobs on the side. Equally you don't necessarily have to be on the dole to be doing cash jobs.

I would, but a lot of people wouldn't. Its seen as a badge of honour of sorts by some to be 'doing the double'. You hear people boasting about it. Sad indictment of the country.

I've always reckoned it is partly inspired by a sort of "sure they all do it" attitude we have. Irish culture respects the cute hoor partly because we want a slice of the extras that the Haugheys, the Berties and all the rest have abused their elected positions to obtain. For decades every level of government, civil service and policing has been endemic with corruption in this country, so it is hardly surprising the man on the street takes a bit of a he who dares wins attitude towards any loophole he feels he can exploit. Tax, welfare, you name it. Italians, Russians, Nigerians, all are from countries with even worse political backhanderism than we have had, and they often have a similar attitude to sticking it to the man that the Irish have.

I would also hazard a guess that with our colonial past scamming the state for a few extra pound is a sort of positive act of resistance that never really died at independence. Far from refusing to accept the Queens money, up the North it is even more of a badge of honour to be scamming the social than it is down south, they see it as sort of compensation :)

As for reporting, certainly not. The government spunked away billions on unemployment benefits to layabouts (much of it to a certain Irish "ethnic" grouping) at the height of the boom when these people should have been forced into work or left to starve, if some newly unemployed lad is seeking a refund of his misspent tax contributions over those years more power to him.

If the absence of such activities would result in them being destitute - no.

    Otherwise - yes.

Just like I wouldn't call the fuzz if I saw someone hungry stealing a loaf of bread but I would report any other type of theft.

    No I wouldn't.

    None of my business.

I'm not impressed with people that work and claim dole.

But, would I pick up the phone or write a letter to the SW? No, I couldn't see myself do that.

I'd most likely seeth internally every time I saw them though.:(

The government will end up paying people to snitch on dole cheats once it can be proven, its rife all over the country, with certain people on certain payments,i wont go naming the section of people in society who do it but its pretty obvious.

I worked with a guy about 2 years ago who was claiming the dole and he got away with it for over a year. He only let it slip out after a few pints at an office party, I didnt report him then but I think I would now

Nope not a chance and tbh in a country where a race to the bottom is in full swing with scams like jobsbridge and the like are on the increase more and more people will go down the cash into hand/dole road. Don't blame them one little bit.

It would depend on the persons circumstance.
If they're doing it to just keep food on the table and a roof over their head, then no.
