Yeah we need less Irish, maybe we should import 6 million Japanese to become a majority here.

I for one welcome our new Japanese overlords.

In case nobody has seen this yet... Pat Kenny refuses to discuss the Trilateral Commission / Bilderberg group meeting which occurred in May 2010 in Dublin. He cuts the lady off and tells her that RTE has a complaints process etc.

It was off topic. If you let everyone talk about whatever they want on those shows its a incoherant mess.

Edit: More of a incoherant mess.

I liked Max Keiser show before he got into the main stream, he seems to have let the Newsnight and Have I got news for you appearances go to his head. He is not continually ranting about how we should all buy bitcoin(maybe he is right) but he can expect ordinary people to buy into something so volatile.
A year ago he was all about gold and silver and even sold Keiser 1/4oz silver coins on his website but you had to pay for them with his supposed most hated thing Dollars the king of Fiat currencies.

Doesn't mean he supports the dollar. It just means hes transfering wealth away from the dollar. Silver in return for dollars.

US$ is headed for inflation city. Get off before the train derails.

    Exactly.
I listen to them all - Morning Ireland, News at one, Drivetime and never once have I heard a Govt politician asked the simple question - what exactly will the "Local" property tax be spent on?
Yet I have heard SF politicians interviewed in quite an aggressive manner on their economic policies yet they are the ones in opposition?
    * I'm not a SF supporter, never voted for them.

I dunno. Plenty of media outlets have a blatant agenda - e.g. Fox News, Independent Newspapers, The Guardian... but RTE is pretty ambiguous; it's one of those organisations where you could find an agenda if you're looking for one.

It also has some good-quality investigative journalism in the form of Prime Time Investigates and one-off documentaries.

Problem is it's where you can't find anything. It's like diet news. It's reports behind the links are usually about four sentences. Everytime I click one, I think "That's it?"

The Keiser report is coming up at 9.30pm on RT (formerly Russia Today). The blurb says "Keiser report is a no holds barred look at the shocking scandals behind the global financial headlines".

Criticising RTE is pretty ironic given the state of the media in Russia. I wonder how many RT journalists would risk treating Putin the way that politicians regularly get treated by RTE.

If people want to watch the stuff that Keiser and George Galloway spout out it's there on RT on Saorview as is Al Jazeera. We are better served in our media choices than the Russians are. Or the Iranians for whom Galloway also plies his trade on Press TV.

ok, maybe so... but at the same time did the woman not have a legitimate question? Henry Kissinger, the Rockefellers, and the Rothschilds were in town and not a single word on the news about it.

Pat Kenny could have suggested that they would discuss the issue on another edition of Frontline sometime in the future.. but instead he suddenly cut her off saying 'Im not going there...'

Didn't McWilliams initially advise that the guarantee was good and now he makes money from saying it was bad.

RTE don't serve the best interests of Irish people.

    No, he didn't.

He advised limited guarantees to protect depositors, not blanket guarantees to give blank cheques to financial institutions and their speculators.

McWilliams, Gurdgiev, Keiser and all the other media economists wouldn't have a clue how to run a country if they were give the chance.

McWilliams didn't have much to say to warn anyone of the impending doom in this piece from 2004.

LOL DFX There's a reason people like Kaiser work for Russia Today. They'll never be interested in creating a successful capitalist country tomorrow.

Can't really hack Max's hyperventilating soapboxing. His recent bitcoin fanboy ranting just confirmed my suspicions. He was taken to the cleaners on newsnight recently by an economist.

Thats the point. I dont live in an economy. I live in a country. I don't want more money. I want a better society.

Having sh1theads, quaaaaars & shysters in power is the opposite of what we need. We need people with testicular fortitude. Not a collection of arsoles and minions.

Just saw someone saying on the other RTE thread that its editorial style is similar to that of The Irish Times.

So really, if you're biased in a particular way, RTE will be whatever you seek it to be.

As someone just left of centre, it's decidedly centrist to me.

Im sorry but I would also call what happened to the Irish people 'rape'

we had no choice, we didnt want to pay bondholders after their risk failed and we were powerless to do anything to stop it.

Crass and demeaning to women who have been raped. And had it been rape, it would have been self-rape.

Is it about choice? We have none. We have to pay for RTE whether we like it or not. That's bull****.

Its a Department Of Propaganda. **** those ****ers.

He does it all time to people that bring up other subjects. Most people would not even know what she was talking about and it would derail the current topic.

RTE is a disgraceful disinformation machine. It's promotion of gombeen values and propping up of the oligarchy is a disgrace.

It must be disbanded for the sake of Ireland.

That's interesting, considering bitcoin is currently a bubble curency that could collapse, you'd imagine Keiser would shun investments who's value is based on hot air and positive market sentement driven by fear and greed.

And gold has gone through the floor, falling 40% in value from it's post crash highs over the last year.
If all of Keisers opinions are as considered as his ones regarding investments then I'd not be inclined to pay much attention to him. He's a carnval barker.

    Me.

Seems everyone has an agenda. Even the lefties only play to the masses so they can try erode the moral fabric of society. I'm guessing the New FineGael will be a PDs Mark 2.
