I downloaded 500 Megs of stuff yesterday, and i got bairly anything to show 4 it, except postal 2

Wheeler ur line doesnt need anything extra, u can connect now all u have to do make sure ur modem settings are correct and ur away.

At last - I've had my line activated !!!!

So that's me completely up & running......hope the same happens for the rest of you without much more delay by the 'inept' eircom people.

I will post pings etc. later.

By the way, I didn't get a call from eircom. I found out myself - I got a message from my modem saying that there was an interupt on the DSL line and when I tried to log in it worked

just got home to find that its ON!!! but eircon did not ring me. but thats good now all i have to do is download sh1t lot of stuff before my next bill (4th may) till then its onlt about 1euro50cent a day till your next bill date. 4 gigs here i come..

Hi,

Got home and turned on my ADSL router for the umpteenth time for the laugh. To my utter suprise the ADSL light stopped blinking. Powered on MY Pc and to my utter suprise had ADSL ! Had to choose LLC & PPoe but read about those problems so after 5 mins troubleshooting here I am at home, during peak hours ( before 6pm) on the net !!! Woohoo !

I'll post my ping times to that link earlier in this thread rightaway.
No Splitter yet though so have to be nice about sharing the phone line !

My ping times are between 61ms and 63ms. I don't really know whether these are good values or not.

listen gods toy, are u charged per month or per bill? i mean are u sure we can get the 4 gigs of stuff be4 the next bill????

technically i suppose we can, but u DO know eircom, im sure they have a loophole to get around this.

Also, we havent get a phone call from 'sales' so technically our billing hasnt started coz we have done it manually

hi, i am charged per month and i rang eircom this morning. she told me that they will charge me the "per day" rate of around 1.55 euro from 12pm tonight untill new bill comes in (to me that is the 4th of may) i suppose we can't go over the 4gig limit. thats what i was told... B.T.W i am dun-laoghaire/monkstown (someone asked me)

After reading this thread, i installed the modem & software and whaddya know ? i've got ADSL!

Eircom havent rang me either. I'm in D 16 near Sandyford.

In the back of the I-Stream Starter book there's a bit saying you can monitor your download quantities by going to http://broadbanddownload.eircom.net Only prob is, i cant log in!

I THINK I've been connected. My modem says connected at 512/128

If I select the only available service I can't access anything. I can ping www.eircom.net but nothing else.

If I leave services blank, I get error 650 as described below:

The computer you're dialing in to does not respond to a network request. Check your server type setting in the properties of the connection. If this problem persists, check with your network administrator.

I can't select LLC or VC MUX, the only option is AUTO.

HELP!!!!

What type of Modem is it? Does it support PPPoE or just PPPoA? Bizarre that you can ping Eircom though because that means you have been allocated an IP address.

naa, no router but when i was on modem i get connected at 52kbps... only thing i can think of is i am using USB2.0 ???? maybe,, i dont know. my downloads are not as fast as some of the lads..

I wonder can anyone help me.
I have a D-Link DSL-200 USB modem.
I have installed it with the WAN drivers.
Used the settings that i could find on here.
There is nothing on boards about modulation so i have chosen
G.DMT from the dropdown.
Now my question is.
If i have a DSL connection the led will come on.
If i don't i assumed it would be flashing at least and then i could tell when it stopped flashing that DSL is up and running, but its not even flashing.
Its OFF - Is this normal or have i installed the modem wrong?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help

Sounds like your line hasn't been activated yet. I'm in the same boat. If you know that your line is active, then cold start the modem. G.DMT is fine, you should also connect with VPC/VPI or 8/35 with LLC (at least that's the info I have).

I ordered from Netsource.
How many days after you order do you get your install pack with them.
I have a D-Link DSL-200.Im not connected yet but when i installed first there was a blinking green light.
Now it doesnt even blink. its off all the time.
Is this ok?
There doesnt seem to be any option to select LLC
anywhere for this modem.

I happen to have a few contacts in the Broadband Provisioning section in Eircom. Post your account nos. (no phone nos.!!!) and I'll see can I get you swithced on early.

i tihnk u have to wait 10/11 days before u get ur stuff from netsource

If theres no option for LLC, then u may have to download specific software that allows ur modem to run under PPPoE.

On ur installation cd/driver check the phonebook.ini file, if device type = 0 then that means its PPPoA and u have to change it

on the 11th @ 9:45am,, got name and password about 1hr later
few day's after they rang me and told me how they can't "put it in till the 12th of may" and lets just say i was not happy and had a "chat" with em.... bla bla bla... and got it on the 1st of may @ 9am... thats how you do it. NEXT!!!
