windows 8 .1 sharing folders with android?

hi there:) i just upgraded from windows xp to windows 8.1 on xp all i had to do was share a folder and i could view it's contents from the android smartphone with ES file explorer i tried sharing a folder with the homegroup on windows 8.1 i can see the networked pc but i'm getting a login fail on ES file explorer? any idea…

Don't use Homegroup just use your own work group. Unless it's been changed recently 'Homegroup' only works with other 'Homegroup' machines
