windows 7 factory reset

how do i do this? I Cant find the recovery disk that came with the laptop(if i even got one its 3/4 years ago. driving me mad all morning. I have the product key because its available on my control panel. I want to do a full reset.

nothing will work for me off any of the info from googling it. its supposed to give you the option of doing a system recovery after you hold 0 while powering on but it doesnt give me that option. just the usual boot menu.

You could just do an ordinary re-install - won't take long ?

Are you sure thats not the Product ID ?

The key might be on a tiny green sticker on the bottom of the laptop too

I have the HDD recovery on the hard drive as all toshiba's did after 2007 instead of a recovery disk. But i just cant get it to appear on my options when i hold 0 and power up like the manual says. anyone know how else i can get this working? i dont want t go down the long route yet cause its there but i just cant get it to appear when i boot it up.

Did you try keep pressing f8 when turning it on

yea that has nothing to do with what im looking to do. if i had the cd i could just go in there and use the boot menu from normal.

Try holding Ctrl and tapping f10 or f11 while it powers up...think I did that with mine before.

Hi folks,

I hope ye don't mind me jumping on this thread, but I have a system restore issue someone may be able to help with ...

Got the blue screen yesterday and eventually had to resort to a full factory restore, which I set going yesterday evening some time.

I woke this morning and it was "Installing Sysprep - Factory Mode", which was about 8:30 am. Its now 13:00 and the restore hasn't progressed.

I'm using recovery disks I burned when I bought the laptop over 2 years ago.
It's a packard bell easy note running windows 7.

The HDD Activity LED is flashing briefly at what looks like regular intervals of 1 second approx (I'm hoping this is not a sign of a fail task/retry loop of some sort).

Am I looking at a HDD issue here or is it possible that the restore could actually take this long?
