I'd almost say that is overpriced. The bodywork looks in rag order all over.

You're probably right. I didn't look at the bodywork closely when scanning the ads.

    Sport me hole, cheap though

it gets a decent rating on parkers for fuel economy. No personal experience of it though.

My mother has one from new (2005) and she services it all the time at Nissan, car on a full tank can barely top 600km.
It's a reliable car, I'll give it that. Never failed to start

It also says it comes with a 12 year bodywork warranty, that didn't stop the front cross members rotting out after only a few short years on many of these though.

My point is manufacturers facts and figures sometimes are very different to what will be experienced in real world conditions.

That's a very common issue on a lot of modern cars - as I understand - especially modern diesels.

They frequently don't get the fuel economy they are supposed to.

Its down I understand to the testing process not simulating real world driving enough.

Nice looking car. Hard to believe it's near 22 years old. Another few years left in it too by the looks of it.

Great bang for your buck for the right owner.

Be careful though, a lot of insurers won't cover cars over 20 years old.

Thanks. Wasn't aware of that. Even the 93 one above is a higher quote for me than a 2003 1.8 litre rover 75.

Which kinda flys in the face of what the NCT certificate is supposed to do doesn't it?

I mean if the car has an NCT then it should be safe to drive on the roads so why put up the insurance?

What do you mean insurance companies dont trust NCT tests?? Surely they cant be wrong can they?

Eh, probably more to do with scarcity of replacement parts than safety TBH.

More to do with security, the Irish government's determination to to our country of old cars an just being plain feckin weird.

Don't see any evidence the govt have any problem with older cars apart from the NCT, they always did favor the motor industry, never did understand why, must have been a few car dealers through the Dail.

Scrappage schemes, really low tax on new cars, not moving the "non NCT date" to reflect the year (when was the pre 1980 rule placed?).

To them, the motor industry I people buying new diesels.

I don't think a lot of people in Ireland - including those in power understand why youd be into cars.

If you drive something like a 1989 Nissan Bluebird - a lot of people would think your bonkers.

Ireland - as a rule - doesn't do "old cars" - especially anything from the 80s and early 90s.

60s and 70s cars are different alright - people tend to "get them" a bit more

I actually thought about importing a Nissan Bluebird* around the time the new VRT rules came in - there was an apparently very nice black 2.0 auto that I was thinking about.

When saying it to people - they thought WTF - in the end I didn't even go over to see it.

Not such a bad thing in the end - as im sure I would have been epically disappointed in respect of things like how it drove (it would have been my daily drive had I purchased).

    * don't ask - I used to like them back in the day :D when they were everywhere

Yeah I've always wanted a Cortina Mark IV. The uncle had one when i was young. The 20 year insurance thing doesn't make alot of sense.

Primera, nct to 3/14, 650 euro

A nice example (rust free etc) example of those Primeras really are getting to be real value for what your getting - imo.

Youd have to be seriously allergic to Primeras to rule them out if on a very tight budget - I think anyway.

They don't look the nicest - but at 650 euros - then if it drives well and is in decent shape - you couldn't go wrong (surely)

Yes - the original was the nicest looking of the lot, P11 was a good car - but it was clearly a stretched/evolved version of the original - and as often happens in that situation - doesn't look as nice.

P11s a better car in terms of things like rear legroom - and the likes of the SRI with the half leather are a nicer place to be then a P10 - generally speaking.

Obviously if the P10 is a high spec with leather (rare id say even in the UK) it closes the gap on the P11 - especially if the P11 is a GX (near bottom of range).

Personally - I also think they were very reliable cars - although I know some say they aren't as reliable as Toyotas or Japanese built Nissans.

But the cars that beat the Primera on reliability are probably the most reliable cars of all time - so even if you were only at 75 percent of the reliability - youd still have a fine car reliability wise.

The P12s definitely weren't great though - that's for sure - Nissan blew it with that one imo

P10 is a fine looking car. I'm told they are really good to drive too :)

This one is really good looking

I'd remove those poxy Lexus lights first thing anyway.
Seeing as it has 93k on the clock and no mention of belts or pump I would be assuming they have been done.
Price is a bit on the high side I think, but much better than the 05 listed earlier.
Can't make my mind up if that spoiler suits it or not...
