Hi guys i am looking to know do anyone have these types of windows installed from munster joinery. I am fully aware of their reputation but they are offering such a gd price for my new build it is hard not to consider them.
Reviews of the company requested, by PM only please. THREAD LOCKED
No problem with the windows themselves. Their delivery dates and times at order placement are a bit hit and miss, however they do show up on their confirmed delivery date.
thanks do you have them installed in your own house. Are they as gd as their sales pitch as i have talked to that many window sales men it hard to know who is telling the least amount of lies.
yeah fifib there price is nearly 2 grand cheaper than other quotes and there one of only a few companies that are putting them in a 90mm frame. A few have squeezed triple glazing into a 70mm frame but only end up with a u value of 1.0. Its such an important decision my head is pickled
We are in the exact same situation in a new build and im scared of my LIFE every considering Munster Joinery BUTTTT the prices are not to be sniffed at when as we all know things are so tight.
As for the future proof i dont really understand them and would love to but from a price point of view the future proof triple glazing is almost 5k more than the standard triple glazing.
I to would love to know if its worth it or if we should all RUN NOW as far as we can form Munster Joiunery as in the long run the savings will be insignificant?:mad::mad:
Ive read all the reviews on here about Munster Joinery and it would def put you off ever going near them but anyone I know whose had dealings with them have been very happy, but none of these have been the future proof ones. Am i right in thinking alot of the bad press is down to customer service and not the product itself?
Munsters Future Proof is basically a PVC window, triple glazed and manufactured to give a certain u-value which is what all this passive lark is about...how low a u-value you can get in your house. They are certified to give a certain u-value so I dont see how they can promise us 0.7 or 1.2 and not comply with this as when you go to test your rating it will obviously show up if the windows are not to spec?
they are only 1500 more expensive for me. I doubt you would recoup 5k prob take 50-60 years am sure somebody can do the heat calculations not my strong point. I think there windows are of a gd standard its there fitters that have maybe cost them work. Most of this done during the boom as they were doing that much work they hadnt time to install them like they were doing there own house.
I totally agree .... I have known alot of people who have had several issues with Munster joinery and may i add we live 10 minutes from the head office plant in cork. I went to view their new show room last wk its only been opened a few wks and its amazing very impressive.
It does definitely seem that things start to fall apart during installation and after care.
I have know a lot of people ( mother, sister and best friend ) who all have had window glass broken during installation and as there was nobody on site at the time the crew simple walked away and left it ...... DREADFUL bad service if you ask me!
I also agree regarding the promised U Values ... our Ber as per the contractors BER assessor is A3 which only requires 1.4 U Value so im thinking that the triple glazing standard upvc with suffice with a UValue of 1.2 ..... costing 10,875e ..... to up grade to future proof triple glazing its 15570!!
such a hard choice as budget is tight with my build but i still want a gd window. could get there DG for just over 6500 but as i live close to busy road i need at least Tg but am only considering the passiv windows due to the price. Have an amount for windows in the budget and these are still in my price range thats why i am giving them serious consideration.
their showroom is very impressive - we were in the Galway one. We went to another suppliers showroom and every window and door they showed us had some problem with it so they couldn't even close or open it properly to show us...doesn't instill alot of confidence in their product does it! but i know they prob get 100% more wear and tear than normal household usage but it still put us off them.
i was the same some of the sample windows i seen were very poor quality and maybe i hit lucky with the sales rep but he was really knowledgeable with all the questions i hit him with , was flat out on google beforehand. other sales reps just said to look at the brochure but its better hearing it. I am 99% sure i will go for the futureproof but i will be all over the fitters when they are going in.
