When I'm reassembling my Pug I'll be experimenting with a side mounted cooler. As in behind the foglight, not mad max style :p

No need for paint and going to see if it makes a difference, standard cooler is **** to say the least

If i were you invest in water injection if you want to move heat away faster

Its a very good intercooler I just don't want to take from its efficiency by using the wrong paint is all.

I got it down to 35-40 minutes. Never really bothered me unless it was raining, which was rarely.

Ah yeah about that for me too, but when you have a knackered leg it doesn't help :(

Meh :( went satin black on wheels and wish I went matt or gloss black tbh

I was under the impression matt paint works better on radiators and intercoolers as it helps to get rid of heat faster.

Will buy special rad paint of I have to. Just happen to have a full can of the halfords stuff in the shed.

Technically you are right as non reflective surfaces radiate energy more efficiently (and come into thermal equilibrium with their surroundings more easily) but in your case I doubt it would make much difference;)
The surface area would be far more important. Btw colour makes no difference either, pink would be nice:p

Btw its called black body radiation (black body is any opaque non reflective surface) If you are interested (and I really doubt you are :D) you can look up plancks law of black body radiation!

Decided since I'm going away for a nice weekend and since the car will be sitting there for four days that the car deserved a treat as well and booked her in for a full valet so when I arrive back she be good to go.

Now to get her dirty before I drop it off.

After changing my mind several times over the last few months I finally decided to change the car. Will be heading to the UK on Saturday to pick up a 2009 Passat CC GT 170 TDI. Lets hope the feckin weather calms down and the Ferries get back running!

thing is though ive wanted a Punto of that shape since it came out. It really doesnt bother me going down to a Punto tbh once all the creature comforts are there for the most part.
If i was getting an MX5 itd have to be the 1.8 which costs nearly 700 to tax and costs 400 more than the 325 did because its a vert. Also, and a big reason is, I dont think id feel particularly safe in one even if the 2002- have a 4star ncap

I've said it plenty of times already but the early 1.6 is the car to go for. And the NB's are even less safe than the NA's at this stage because of rust issues. Johnboy schooled me on that, he knows more.

I went though the same "I want a safe car", thing for a while after my crash. It passes fairly quickly.
You should take a shot in an early 1.6, see how it feels. The safety issues can be taken car of with a roll bar, and it looks extra cool. :D

Best thing is to get a perfect pre-94, you don't have to spend nearly €3000. :D

That or the other €2000 on insurance. :o
But yeah, plenty of money yet to be dropped on it. :D

    Yeah that one's class! :D
He's dropped €600 since last night.

I'd feel weird about buying a built car though. Half the fun, especially when the car's as simple as an MX5, it's buying and building it yourself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,234 ✭✭✭Ardennes1944

Its perfect though! except for the dildo, thats just weird. if i could get it for 3900......

Worth a shot, cars like that tend to sit for a long time.
I'd offer €3500 and see where it goes.

imagine disclosing all the mods to the insurance company

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,730 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

It's mostly visual stuff though, when ever I ask way I had to declare it get told it's anything that will effect the engines power output. Probably wise to list everything but I don't imagine they'd have much of an effect your policy.

I was told it was anything that alters the performance of the car. I'd imagine that's a catch all for engine/suspension/steering/braking modifications.

When it comes to declaring stuff to your insurance, you are much better off in the long run to just declare anything you think might make a difference. Some things we think would make a difference often don't and vice versa.
