    Help appreciated :)

I have been searching online but never found a solution.

I own a 27" iMac and it was bought around 2008, never gave any trouble

Today the screen would flick to complete darkness for a few seconds and then return.

Now it's completely dark and I cannot get it to return. Tried turning it on & off and didn't work. It's powered on, I can hear it
running and it can charge my ipad.

Is this a super expensive repair? :(

    Thanks for any help

if it's a 2008 model then you have an imac 24" GPU is a common problem for those you might want to get it checked by an apple repair centre.

    27 inch definitly though

If I can bump my own thread I finally got around to taking this to a repair shop in Dublin

Graphics card is toast and was quoted 350 euro for a new graphics card plus labour :(

Maybe one day someone will search for this thread after having a similar issue.

Seems it's a common problem with this range of macs from 2008/2009!

Not good enough really. Not for the premium charged.
