    Hello Folks..

I'm reading the books for the second time now and really enjoying them at a much slower pace to take in as much info as I as possibly can.

The first time around - I was always in a such a hurry to see what happened - I missed out on a lot of the smaller details which now second time around seem so much more relevant.

I've finished Game of Thrones now and have just started Clash of Kings.

In GOT - the one thing that stuck out second time around was Sansa going to Cersei to tell her of Neds plan to send them to Winterfell which effectively escalated Cerseis own actions.
    FFS - Sansa!

The chapters leading up to that are so infuriating on re-reads.
I think it's where she rats on Ned to Cersei where she says she feels "as wicked as Arya". How she could be so utterly stupid to compare being a bold child to what she did, grrrr.

If she'd just shut the **** up herself and Arya would've got home (and a chunk of Ned's guard) and the Lannisters would've been left with Ned as their only hostage. In those circumstances there's no way they would've let Ned be executed.

And if they had executed him they would've lost the ensuing war. Robb could've let Karstark have his vengeance if needs be and he could've joined with Renly or Stannis without too much trouble.

Ned wouldn't have admitted to treason without the treat of harm to his daughters so the Lannisters would've been in a weaker position. Ned was the one who sent the letter to Stannis so Stannis would see it as his duty to get to KL asap. Rob would've joined him no problem and I think they would've been able to take KL.

Ironically Sansa was desperate to stay in King's Landing and then was desperate to leave!

Basically she was a typical teenage girl.

I really like Sansa's depiction. At first, she compares poorly to Arya. We like Arya's pigheadedness and her bravery and her refusal to play by the rules. Sansa, on the other hand, seems flighty, materialistic, moody and selfish. However, after everything goes to hell her strength really shines through. If Arya had stayed in Kings Landing she'd have been dead in a day, probably after slapping Joffrey. Sansa, though, has the sense to keep herself safe. She shows true strength and bravery in merely managing to survive in that den of vipers. She learns how to play the game and does so well. That Martin manages to depict her doing so without forcing male attributes on her as so many writers do as they see it as the only way to make a woman seem strong, is to his credit.
Sansa is very different to Arya and indeed Danerys but still a very strong character.

Did Ned send the letter to Stannis in the books? I thought it was only the tv series, in the books Stannis seems more cold towards Ned

Ya. He knew he was in danger and he didn't want to take the secret to the grave with him like Jon Arryn. Stannis was the perfect guy to tell. There was no way he would let it go.

I was surprised how angry I got re-reading those chapters knowing the absolute s**t storm that was unraveling..

A testament to the writing that it could evoke stronger feelings the second time around than the first!

Letter never made it to Dragonstone in the books, the Lannisters killed the messenger before he left KL.

Just googled it. Stannis suspected it and wanted it to come from Jon as he thought Robert wouldn't believe him. I should probably read the books again but I don't have the time and I have boardsies to correct my memory :P

Re-reading ACOK now and the first mention of Roose Boltons bastard has just up with the Lady Hornwood expressing her concerns over him.

Ser Rodrik assured her she had nothing to be worried about...

Vexed I am - very, very vexed..

Brendan O'Carroll, the absolute ****ing mong, just said on his ****ty amateur pile of **** to Jack Gleeson "Am I right in saying that Joffrey dies in this next season?".

    Jesus Christ in a bucket.

The only thing that redeems this is that I really don't think the demographics overlap :-)

I saw someone in the thread for the show that they said they'd thrown it on because Gleeson was on it tonight. More than a few had the show spoiled for them there.

What an absolute plank. I'm pissed off and I knew what was going to happen.

How did Gleeson react to that?

If somebody had spoiled LoveHate there'd have been uproar but because it's some HBO show with dragons that Brendan clearly didn't give a toss about it's fair game. Nearly worse than Frankie Boyle's premeditated attack on twitter considering he's a professional presenter. The worst thing is I'm not even surprised it happened!

Not as well as you would have thought, clearly acted lile someone out of contract and had no interest in working with HBO again thats for sure, he was actually worse in his reaction imo.

Ah to be fair to Jack Gleeson he wasn't expecting Brendan to drop that on him. I mean any other chatshow in the world, or at least with any semblance of an international market attached would be told it's a no go area.

Of course, I had forgot there won't really be any repercussions for him now what with him being done with the show.

Deffo rabbit in the headlights there, but he should have been professional enough to have shrugged it off with a you going to have to watch and find out, but that said O'Connor mentioned he died in the book aswell the douche, Gleeson was likely as shocked as we were.

I don't know about that, the Irish media did their best to spoil Love/Hate, including the Star splashing the next character to die across their front page, rest of them did the same either in big heading inside their paper or on their website. The Star one really pissed me off though, seen it plastered across their front page when I was in a shop, no way to avoid it. Independent had another character death prominently on their front page.

There's something about the Irish media, anything I've seen of journalists they seem to be know it all dickheads who feel the most important thing is to let everyone know how much information they know or how important they are.

Another reason to hate O'Connor, as if we needed one. The only saving grace is that hardly anyone watches his sh*te show to begin with.

Why are you asking complete strangers on a message board why they are getting worked up about it?

I was asking why people who already know what happens seem to be getting worked up over it. People who haven't read the books I understand the 'outcry' just not getting why anyone who knew what happens a couple of books back. That is all. Jeez.

Because it ruins a series we all enjoy for people who haven't seen it. Probably something to do with empathy

Apologies for not taking it so serious. Seriously.
