If your going for wood then your kind of limited.
Ive never used a snap in type button in a wooden cp.Maybe somebody here has.
im sure if the hole was tight enough it wouldn't be an issue.
I always go for these buttons.

how are your woodworking skills?
you might have to recess your joysticks into the back of the panel a bit or they'll end up short.

I've used the Sanwa buttons on wooden panels without any hassle, just make sure you don't make the hole too big and you'll have a good solid interference fit.
Sure, someone you slip a knife under them and lift them out but that's hardly a home arcade type of problem.

Cheers lads. I tought they where all push/clip in. Ill have a good look later on. As for my woodworking skills there as good as my understanding of quantum mechanics ;-)

Just a quick question on metal control panels what's the pros or cons of these compared to wooden ones. I take it they need to be machine cut? .

They would have been more durable in an arcade but I can't think of any other benefits.

If you're building a wooden cab then use a wooden control panel. Far easier to construct and once the artwork is on there you won't even really notice what it's made out of.

One big down side to metal control panels - they get damn cold!
