cant understand whats gone so badly wrong with wolfe tones in both codes under age for years they were very strong their senior football team got relageted aswell so something is gone badly wrong within the club

I think (can't confirm on sh1tty County Board website) they won the under 16A this year. That's a sign there might be a bit of an improvement on the way for them.

Think you might be right, they got to the final anyways I think. Might have won Clare Feile with the same group also.

Thinnk they struggled/failed to field a team at minor level a few years ago.

i think from a hurling prospective you can include doora/barefield in to that list there a million miles from where they were in the late 90s and in truth they are mainly a football club at the moment with one of the best underage programes in the county

eire og fall under the same category but i always saw them as a football club aswell which is strange when you think about it there the main club in the county town of one of the biggest hurling counties in the country

i know they won it in 1990 but they have won several jack daly's sence, if there is a silver lining the emergance of shane o donnell and davey o halloran might encourage a few more young lads to pick up sticks in the future but for a club that lives next door to st flannans collage you would expect alot more from them

Re Wolfe Tones, in hurlong a few years ago they lost 14 players to retirement and emigration that had played senior championship in the previous 2 seasons, that's a massive hit.

Barefield are gone way back as well but starting to get it together at underage level also. Part of the reason for their demise may be to do with selling Roslevan, no hurling pitch within walking distance for all the kids in the area

Barefield seem to be a perfect storm of what can go wrong with a GAA club, great bunch of players coming through at once so no other players can within the first team, internal fighting & politics, football being made a priority and selling their main ground for a nice big fancy ground that you need to get a car to.

Banner have grounds that you really need to a car to get to, but are enjoying success at underage level at the moment hopefully it will translate into minor & senior in 5+ years

Most clubs have a pick that isn't central and needs transport to get to but I don't know of many that goes from the middle of the main populated area to the middle of no where

Tones won both Clare hurling and football Feile 2 years ago. Same bunch won 16A Hurling a few weeks ago, and got to 16A football final. The next bunch underage (U14s and U15s) are probably not as good, but will compete with anybody on their day. Hopefully a sign that things are improving for the club.

They beat the mills didnt they, 1-5 to 1-3 i think, shocking low scoring. I have it on video at home.

After Whitegate's performance last weekend, quite amazing t play two huge games in the same weekend.

    Fair play Cratloe!

well done cratloe they looked dead on there feet early in the first half but they faught like dogs to win on another day the scoreline would have been much bigger but given the 24 hours they just have had its a very impressive result

connor mcgrath was sent off late in the second half which will be over turned if there is any justice in the world, the ref was poor on both sides today but the sending off of mcgrath was an inexcusable act!!!

well done to the bridge aswell there were plenty of radios knocking about over in the park great to see the two clare senior champions in both finals , great year so far.

Big win for Clyda Rovers in the Munster semi today so they play Miltown Malbay in the final next Sunday. Not sure who will be the favourites for that as Miltown beat the Kerry champions. A few years ago Kilmihil beat St.Finbarr's of Cork in Kilmihil but proceeded to get destroyed by the Kerry champions in the Munster final, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Miltown. Having it on in the Gaelic grounds would be the most logical venue but it depends on the outcome of the toss for venue between Sixmilebridge and Na Piarsaigh. No club outside Cork or Kerry have won this championship and Miltown have the best chance of all of making history. Clare clubs have lost 4 Munster finals at this grade, Cork are next with 2 losses

i would give miltown a great chance of winning next week i said it from the moment they hammered kilmihil in the final they would go along way in it.

the kilmihil munster final a few years ago surprised all of us by the size of the defeat espicaly after beating finbarrs at home, they were offered to play the game in ballylongford which would have been ideal because it was narrow and tight for space but the management rejected it instead and the game was moved to mallow which is much bigger in size and the kerry lads killed us with the open space

there was a bit of added presure on our lads that day aswell as the girls won the junior all ireland the day before but there was no doubt about it they froze which is something i cant see hapaining to miltown

What happened, how was he hard done by, and was it a straight red or 2 yellows?

    straight red!!

mcgrath got in a scuffle with the ballinacourty no 5 richie foley late in the game as the ball crossed the sidline he was hit with a late shoulder as he crossed the line he turned around and pushed the ballinacourty player only to get a smack in the jaw in return,
a scuffle developed with several players as a result which lasted around 30 seconeds at the end of the delay he called over mcgrath and the ballinacourty no 5 and showed them both stright red cards he blew the game up seconds later,

i dont know who the ref was but i doubt any of the two sides were happy with his proformance today very poor stuff

I wasn't aware that they were offered the option of playing it in Ballylongford but they were destroyed that day against Foilmore in Mallow. They were a brilliant team and it showed as they won the All-Ireland easily enough after that. After beating Finbarr's (that was a fantastic game) I think they thought they just had to turn up to beat the Kerry champs and I don't think that Miltown will be that complacent. It will be close but it would be good for football in the county if Miltown won

yeah the management turned it down on the grounds that the venue was in kerry and the locals would come out in numbers to support foilemore , which i taught was a joke because the venue was closer to west clare then it was to foilmore, i dont think they taught it would be moved to mallow they probley taught it would have been moved to kilmallock or newcastle west, i dont think it would have made any diffrence anyway they were way too good

clyda rovers have a few descent inter county players aswell paudi kissane and ray carey are no bad players to have at intermediate club level

clyda must be red hot for this final..some senior county players really dominate teams and stand out a mile in this grade.. clyda have 2 in a top 4 teams in the country while miltown have 1 I think from a county that is in bottom 3 in the country imho...
looking back to the currow game I feel they were very lucky to win this 1. currow kicked 5 wides in first 15 mins..lost a midfielder before half time ..hit the post with an unstoppable shot in the second half..and still only barely lost by a single point... clyda are destroying teams at will and will win by 5+ on munster final day in my opinion.

I agree with you, they were lucky to hang on in the end. It seems that they have the best chance of beating the Cork/Kerry duopoly, hopefully it will be on in the Gaelic grounds because as mentioned in a previous post the tight pitch will suit Clyda more. Having to beat both Cork and Kerry opposition makes this competition very difficult to win, ideally they would be drawn to play each other in a quarter/semi final every year!

Ye would glady take a lunatic to rid ye of ye're croker choker syndrome

Rumors abound that Na Piarsaigh are refusing to toss with SMB for Ennis/Limerick

id nearly be 100% sure the game will be fixed for thurles although the gealic grounds would make more sence with it been the closest venue for both teams even though it falls under the na pearsaigh "parrish" area of the city

No consideration for supporters if so
