080 worked a sperry train through Sallins around 12. I tried to get in position for a good pic but she managed to leave the loop and sneak up behind me :o Best of a bad lot attached.

Anyone know the reason for 112's visit to Portlaosie?

There must be some mistake, the only 112 in Portlaoise is in the model shop in the town centre;) there's another 112 in the model shop in Hawkin's st in Dublin. Will the real 112 step forward, before it can do that, it will have to step over the border first, as its still in Northern Ireland.

Sure was 84, it shunted the HOBS earlier at NW.

You guys get all the excitement. The most around my way are those ruddy Sligo trains.

It could be done but you'd need to strip out fit the push pull equipment, commission both back into traffic and still needing to overhaul the other loco before putting it into storage or just overhaul the one and be done with. The stopped loco's are all ones which can't run push pull so it's probably easier as options go.

Quick question as I know this is the wrong thread, are all the 201 class operating on freight push pull or "regular" ones? Seems like an additional shame that coaches are being scrapped where engines are there to legitimately put on other services. I do hate waste. . .

There are only push pull 201s left in service. 206-209,227,231 and 233 work Enterprise services. (228 being over hauled and 230 is withdrawn damaged) 215,217-224,226,229,232 and 234 work the Mk4s and freights. (216 stripped for parts, 225 withdrawn damaged).

Any 071 or any 201 can work the Mk3s being scrapped if only IE hadn't stripped all the gennys out of all the withdrawn EGVs.

An 071(Possibly 080 on return) in the old livery worked the sperry train towards Dublin through Sallins about an hour ago.

An 071 in slate livery worked today's wagon transfer(Possibly 088) passing Sallins for Limerick a few minutes ago

Anyone know is there a speed restriction on an 071 working light engine? I ask because occasionally an 071 running light towards Dublin will be held in the loop at Sallins to allow a following service pass with the quad track from Hazelhatch I'd of thought this was unnecessary unless it's waiting for a path?

Sorry for the possiblys I missed the Sperry train and have a hard time reading the UIC no from a distance!

Due to the poor loco brake on 071s they are restricted to 70 or 75mph when LE. Although some drivers have pushed this if the feel comfortable to push it up to the 90mph.

While waiting at Connolly this afternoon. At 14:30 079 came up from North Wall and stabled outside shed 2 in Connolly. 080 with the Sperry train was in the sidings just beyond platform 7 and at 14:40 a 29k set was spotted hauling two LHB DART sets up East Wall bank back to Fairview depot.
