But why on earth would you take a massive risk (short NCT) paying €800 for a 16 year old car when you can get the newer version, half its age taxed and with a very long test for only a few hundred more?

    I wouldn't.
I'd only buy it after a much closer inspection, test drive, meet the seller etc
Every yoke you shell out 800 notes for in a private sale is a risk.
But as I said I take your point. There is better bangernomics out there for sure. I just like the look of them and thought this looked a nice example.

    why not?
    I said shouldn't not doesn't.
Of course cars can break mounts, {earlier} but it really isn't that common, unless mileage is huge.
I was more refering to the 230k km versus miles issue in comparison.

Micra is a great find if nothing wrong with it. Sell it on next year for at least the same as you're paying for it now!

Accord was posted here a few days ago, wasn't it?

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

Hail the squareness. Even the seats look square. That's some clean looking vehicle! Looks like a good candidate for preservation and vintage tax in 7 years time if you're that inclined.

and the prize for the worst spelling of "primera" ever goes to...
and the fecking lino floor mats :pac:
Why people don't read over their ads before putting them on donedeal is beyond me. How did the seller manage get the spelling so wrong on such a well known car!!!

As for the lino, it probably cost more to buy a fe*kin role of that stuff compared to what any half decent set of mats would of cost.:pac:

Mondeo Mk3 1.8 and 2.0 have inlet manifold swirlflaps issue. If they go, engine can be fcuked.

Best preventative fix is to remove the flaps completely - according to TalkFord anyway.

I know there is lots of bangernomic Mondeos.
I only posted that one as clean, honest, low milage Mondeos of that era are thin on the ground.
An asking of €950 might sell for closer €800. If its genuine, and that's a big if, I'd be happy drive it for a year at that price.
    But point taken.

But that 99 Mondeo still looks like a nice car - and if - a big if - if its in the condition the pictures suggest that it might (I stress might) - then it would be better to drive that at that money then something newer - but not as good condition wise.

Think I argued this point last week as well ;) in relation to a 95 Pug 306 that was posted.

    thanks for posting it W123-80s

What Auto box is in this Audi

I know if its multitronic - or whatever their CVT box was called - that those were a disaster.

But is this too old to be one of those.

Its actually an A6 inspite of what the link says

6 months NCT and 2 months tax, asking €400. Get it for €300/€350 and you could sell it on in 6 months for around the same.

Not sure whats going on with the NCT on this - seller claims recent NCT (fair enough) but the ad suggests Feb 2015 test - on a 2000 car

Nice looking car though (I think) if the NCT story checks out

    Its a coupe btw

Twas always going to struggle at 1295 (original price) with a 2.0 litre petrol engine.

Looks nice enough (condition wise) though - although as we all know - theres always potential for issues to show up when viewing in the flesh

Looks well kept alright. He's confident that it'll pass, I'd offer price provided it's got an nct.

Sorry but i can't understand this. Why would you pay ~€800 for a car that's nearly 23 years old? With a bangernomics hat on of course.
It is not efficient. It is not modern and I doubt it drives as well as a car 10 to 15 years its junior.
I know that the thing is a bit of an icon but could you really live with the car as a daily hack?
    I couldn't.
I would like to own one as a vintage maybe but a daily? Far better value out there imo.

Other VAG 1.8t powered autos of that era come with a Jatco 5 speed slush box. The only car I've ever had that I had to get a certificate of destruction for had such a combination and let's just say the engine was running sweet. I may be a little blinkered but I'd not go down that road again.

Okay no worries - wasn't sure what gearbox was in these Audis - thought the really bothersome ones were the CVT mutlitronic ones.

But have heard that the triptronic gearboxes on Hondas are supposed to be less reliable then the manual versions. I know that Audi did use triptronic gearboxes at around this kind of era - so maybe there was trouble with triptronics in that era.

The Jatco does have tiptronic as well as the traditional gear hold selection for lower gears but wasn't CVT.
