    Think Miltown won

Ya they won by 13 points. It was over after 15 minutes when Miltown got 2 quick goals in succession. They are playing Currow of Kerry in Miltown on Saturday and I think they have a really good chance of winning as they have a very solid team. The odds will be interesting for that match. It's a pity that if they do overcome Currow they will still have to beat the Cork team, Clyda Rovers, to win Munster. Very difficult to beat both the Cork and Kerry champions

Any clare seniors or u21 with sixemilebridge?

What is their full forward or newmarkets like?

Midelton are weak at full back.

Thats a bit harsh, A full back can have a bad day or more usually be exposed from ball played in from the outfield giving him no chance. I haven't seen the Midelton team but sweeping statements like the full back is weak can be very hard on a player.

Ah stop the lights in fairness. Is this not a forum for opinions.

I never judge a player on one game, before you make a sweeping statement on me,i suggest you read the Cork thread ,where i have many times, said Patrick o mahony is a fine player, top corner back but not a full back. And if like you said you haven't seen the team play or yesterdays game, with the greatest of respect,i don't think your in any position to judge my opinion of him.

The midelton manager ,thought the same when they moved him of Cussen for the second half.Or was that harsh?

Okay leave him there ,and let him get destroyed and loose a county final,as its harsh to move him

.The player as proved for cork u21,in case you dont know ,was exposed by Bill walsh, already this year.

I have not judged him on one game. And theres nothing wrong with being honest in an opinion,i wasn't personally abusing the guy.

Any cork fan, will tell you doubts remain for him as a full back.I would say the same about shane o neill as a full back, and he is one of my favourite players.

I can see sweeping statements here by all of us here hidden behind the anonymity of a forum about different things. Personally, I hate to see an comment on a player, even though I don't know him and have never seen him hurl.

That player has just won a county championship at full back and will probably read your post running him down a day or two later. If he is a natural corner back I'd imagine he has been asked to fill the full back berth even though it might not suit him and for that he deserves even greater credit. I'll gladly accept that you didn't mean it as a personal attack.

Find me one player that has never been exposed or quietened by another player at some stage.. Brian Lohan for example was troubled by Brian Corcoran one year and Lohan absolutely destroyed him the next year.

Stop talking nonense in fairness with due respect.

I said he was weak at full back.He is,thats not any specfic target on him, just me saying he is not a full back.

Go to any thread and you will find players criticised ,the same.

If the game was on tv,pundits would say the same. Its just rating a guy on the field of play in fairness.

What your saying so is judge no player. What do you think managers do.

Again i judged him as a full back, where unlike you have seen him play many games.

And again he was moved out from full back ,so he didnt win a county at full back.

I have always said he is a top ic corner back.
And i have judged him at full back over many games i saw him play for cork and club .

Will Shane O Neill get the full back All Star position despite having four goals and three points scored against him in the All Ireland final replay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,274 ✭✭✭Figerty

I felt sorry for O'Neill in the final, even as a Clare man, you could see he was badly exposed from out the field. Only one of the goals came from poor positioning.

His swipe on Honans head will count against him; it was nasty.

I don't think he should get it, he was sent off (wrong) in the Munster final, should have been sent off in the All Ireland Final and had 4 goals scored by his direct opponents in the Replay.

Saying that, I don't know if there was a better full back than him all year, David Mc was great in the Under 21 but was exposed against Cork

Not a hope will he get it at full back.

It be a disgrace if he got it.Riche mac, will get it ,or Mclirney.

Shane will only get the corner if even that.

He would have got one up to the replay.
And shane o neill didnt play full back agains Dublin Or clare in june.

Limk are certain to get one,and Riche is their main man.

As far as I know O'Neill did play full back against Dublin?

He might have worn the number 3 jersey but he mightn't have played full back.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,969 ✭✭✭buck65

He should have seen red in 2 games this summer, got roasted in the final replay, was especially caught out for O Donnells 3rd goal.
Would be a poor choice compared to some of the others out there.

O'Neill wasn't sent off in the Munster final. Horgan was.

I think the full back line will be O'Neill, Richie McCarthy and David McInerney

Numbers on the back mean nothing at all.

Christopher joyce wore 6, but played in midfield in the ist half of a few cork games, mcdonnell wore 2,, but played at half back in the replay.

O neill did not play a full game at 3 against Dublin.

Their is no chance he would get an all star at full back.Their would be an outcry and rightly so , if he did from limerick, clare or dublin who have better nominations at full back.

great stuff just heard it there aswell great achievement :pac:.....!!

i taught that we would struggle to get 7 with the way the papers were talking it up but infairness i dont think the papers really could figure out what was really going on here over the year, alot of them seemed to think of us as a flash in the pan half way through the year

honestly i felt ye deserved more then 3 infairness,

Only other one was murphy,in 3 games he was unreal. To hold kelly and podge, not many have or will do in the future

Once he was nominated at half back, couldnt get it.

Should got it a corner ,with riche at 3 and mclirney at four.

Instead they went for three full backs.

Couldnt argue with the rest.none others deserved it.
