Lost digital text service on RTE 1 & 2 after rescan DVB-T.
Philips 40pfl9705h/12 and Philips support useless!
    Thoughts?

What country did you use when setting up the TV, Ireland or UK?

My brother's non-Saorview approved Philips TV has to be setup with UK as the country for MHEG-5 digital text to work.

Yes !!! let me say that again, yes !
I spent an hour with Euro based Philips support. I pointed out that my model was not on sale in Ireland according to their site and was that relevant. I was told if I bought from Philips in Ireland, it was “An Irish model for the Irish market”. The hour ended with them creating an “Undocumented Issue file” and wished me good luck.
I then got a lecture from SaorView about the difference between Saor view compatible & approved certification. Did the set have a sticker on it ?
    Anyway your advice = solution.

Odd thing is how much I missed the text ....

In the early days of DTT in Ireland although many non-approved TVs did display the Saorview channels the MHEG-5 software was not activated for the Ireland profile.

My 2008 Sony V4500 won't do MHEG-5 in either the Ireland or UK profiles now but it did in the UK profile at one point until Saorview changed something.

Same happened me with an older Samsung (series 4 I think), but when retuned as UK the text worked ok...
