    Hi folks,

I've been crafting for years but just getting into sharing my work online. I'm into a lot of different things from quilting to painting to polymer clay. Most of the sites I use are US based, such as craftster. I'm wondering are there any irish craft blogs out there? Google has only shown a tiny handful. I've only found 4 or 5 so far! Quilting really doesn't seem to be popular in Ireland, at least amongst younger people (I'm 25). I'd like to follow some more local blogs so if you have one or know any please share :-) I don't know if I'm allowed to mention my own blog, if not please let me know and I'll remove the link. I just want to connect with other irish crafters.

Lovely blog. I adore your dreamcatcher and fridge magnets!
Never heard of the toy museum in Rathfarnham. Will be paying a visit myself I think.

i was reading a blog recently where there was a list of lots of Irish Craft blogs, I'll find the link and edit this post and put it in here.
In the meantime, try the Woolly Way of Ireland blog for events and links to other blogs.

I've a craft blog, the link is in my sig. Alas I haven't posted as much to it as I'd like - I've a tonne of photos ready to go up however it's actually finding the time to upload them is the problem lol! I'm dying to give quilting a go, but it seems to be so expensive to get the materials etc, and I thought I'd like to take a class but again, very few available and the ones I found seemed very pricey for what you got.

    I like your hexagon quilt!

The Modern Quilt Guild of Ireland seems to have a slightly younger following than some of the others and I think a few of the members there have blogs.

The Quilting Gallery has a list of quilting blogs, you can search for blogs geographically, alphabetically etc. There seems to be a good few Irish blogs listed on it.

The Irish Patchwork Society blog (http://irishpatchwork.blogspot.com lists some members blogs.

For some reason I can't see your sig, can you let me know what your link is? Sorry, I'm still very new to posting on forums! Yeah, quilting is fairly expensive if you are doing a big one, I always buy fabric online because it's a lot cheaper. A lot of sites sell fat quarters so that's even better. I like equilter.com, the shipping cost is the worst part but it still works out much cheaper than buying locally (which is a pity but the fabric selection here just can't compare either...)

Thank you, another poster has sent me info on that so I will certainly be trying to connect with some people there :-) I don't know how I missed out on finding all this!

Thank you, I feel like my quilts are so bad compared to the work on there! But it will push me to improve so I will keep looking ;-)

Thank you, the dreamcatcher was a lot of fun to make, I will definitely try it again with another colour scheme.
I hadn't heard of that museum either, only I passed by it on the bus one day. It's really small so don't plan for more than 30 minutes but I think it's worth a visit for sure :-)

    can't see how to edit the post I wrote above (#3), so here's the link to the blog I was thinking of: it's actually Irish Knitting and Crochet, not other crafts;

    http://irishknitting.wordpress.com/blogs/

and try this post too in same blog:

    http://irishknitting.wordpress.com/2013/06/15/irish-knitting-crochet-blogs-2013/.

which particular crafts are you most interested in? or which kinds of crafts are you not finding blogs in that you would like to find?

Materials for quilting don't have to be expensive. Originally quilting was a means of making bedcovers for almost no cost by using offcuts, old garments and old blankets. Why not try an 'authentic' approach to quilting and work on original principles rather than buying new polycottons and 'fat quarters'. Cutting the good bits out of mens' shirts from charity shops would be a good start for fabric.

Vibes and Scribes has a new crafter's database on their site here. Also, to plug my friend's crochet blog here and her Facebook here. She's in the process of crocheting a blanket (I think) but she mostly does jumpers, hats, and scarves :)

Thank you, I'm going to bookmark these and check out a few links each day :-) There's a lot more than I expected! Initially I was looking for blogs like mine where it's not focused on one sort of craft but has a bit of everything, but these more specialised ones are great too.
