The Dyson DC19T2 Animal is a bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner engineered for high dust and dirt removal on every floor type – not just carpets. It benefits from a Mini Turbine brush for cleaning stubborn pet hair. There's also a lightweight adjustable wand with variable settings for convenient high-reach cleaning.

Wonder what the difference is between the DC19 and the DC29 apart from 30 euro obviously

I have one of those and bought it as a replacement for my old dyson. My god its a piece of cr@p compared to the old one (dc2)

The spinny head thing just doesn't seem to do anything productive other than stop spinning. The little wheels on the bottom Just fall off due to the materials used ( I got a warranty replacement and then replaced the little axels with brass which fixed that little problem). The emptying mechansism is designed by a guy in a lab who never did hoovering or engineering in his entire life.

Dyson is relying on the innovation and engineering of its first models but this is idea has long since left the building. For this price you can buy a miele or VAX.

There was an AMA on reddit yesterday with a Vacum repair guy (why do I read this stuff!?)

Basically he though Dysons were not living up to the price or hype. That they were decent, but certainly not that reliable. He said Dysons had a very good repair policy, but you would be better off buying a Miele

Do what you will with that!

We have one of these too. Utter shíte. Avoid.

As mentioned above the main feature of the spinning head with little brushes just doesn't spin and the noise the hoover makes is ridiculous. The head is too tall to fit in under even kitchen chairs.

We swapped back to the old nilfisk this was supposed to replace and haven't looked back. Biggest waste of money in some time. Save yours.

a big problem with the likes of a dyson, is the fact that many people don't rtfm - the different heads are for different materials, if the brushes are not spinning, its not the right head for your floor type.

There not great. Dont get fooled by the marketing.

Get a Miele bagged hoover. Best filtration in the market. Bags are only a tenner for 5 or 10 i think.

With all the respect for Dyson fans - Don't even think about this TOY. Believe me, get yourself a Henry hoover (or Hetty :-D) and forget about all the hoover based problems.
Don't let the 5 year warranty fool you too - you're buying it to use it and not to send it back to their service centre every now and then...
Henrys last for 10, 12 or more years and the suction is damn impressive!

+ten zillion Dysons are useless compared to a Miele. I actually love hoovering with the Miele. .

We have the older Animal model (original DC19). I guess it's 8 years old now. We also have 3 kids and 1 dog. This machine gets used nearly every day so that's probably 2500 odd uses and it's still 100% original and going strong.

Buy one. You won't be disappointed.

Totally agree. I have 3 hairy Labradors, my dyson is over 6 years old and still going in perfect condition. My sister has hers 12 years. We don't have animal versions just ordinary and without a doubt dyson are the best hoovers. I bought the car kit which included the mini turbine head and it is brilliant and the suction is brilliant. The next dyson I get will be the animal but mine is still perfect that I don't need to upgrade it yet. Just make sure to wash the filter!

Ive have a dyson animal (Got it for €99 in homestore, display model) and before that I was always borrowing my parents one for years but to be honest I wouldn't buy one again.
We have a Contico Mighty Midget in work, its 10 years old and is in bits but the suction is streets ahead of the dyson. Its a commercial type hoover so may not be suitable for the home (stairs etc), its very cheap though about €100. A henry is a pretty good hoover also.

I've fewer kids, even fewer animals than kids, but I have a DC19.
This is a great machine, and as everyone else, I have it for at least 4 years.

Forget the design, Miele all the way best hoover I have ever used. Dyson was something of a marvel at first but as soon as he got going he move all production offshore and quality went elsewhere.

Owner of the samsung version of a roomba here.
I have a SO with long hair and a dog with short, big house thats all tile and hardwood floors.
Apart from my SO's hair requiring me to clean the brushes weekly (it wraps around the horizontal spinning brushes) and ungunking a little bit of dog hair in some joints it actually does an amazing job.
If Ive been a slob and not used it for a week, it will take 2 complete runs to get on top of the mess (mainly dog hair & dust).
Cords are its enemy though, gotta tidy up / clamp down all cables and cords.
