Anyone know if there's any plans for an update to the mac mini range? I read some articles which speculated an announcement would be made along with the new iPad etc. but that didn't pan out.

Or possibly is this range dead?

Early next year maybe. The Mini is low priority for Apple.

    Why?

It's the red-headed step child of the Mac line. It was originally aimed at PC switchers but ended up being more popular as a media centre. Once Apple realised this they added a HDMI port and started increasing the price. It has often gone a ridiculous amount of time without a refresh. I don't think they really know what to do with it anymore except protect their margins and wait for sales to drop low enough to kill it.

Fantastic machine. As far as I'm concerned all my future upgrades will be to the next mac mini if they ever do release one.
