Scart to 3 phono

    Hi I just bought a dvd player with one scart and a new scart to a 3 phono lead to connect to my tv, however it will not play with the scart to 3 phono lead I am sure I have connected all wires properly anyone any ideas why this should happen? I pressed av button for ext 2 for phono. help please.
