Trying to help a friend root his S4(GT-i9505) but not having much luck. I've rooted my old Desire and Sensation(which was tough at the beginning). What guides have people used?

Looks lovely, being as "ultra-thin" as it says though, will it give any protection at all from a drop? Tempted to order one though for a different colour choice

Its as thin as it can be as the phone fits inside. I think its thin enough, its certainly not bulky. I bought one a bit cheaper from another ebay seller in Silver for my son. You will have to trim a small bit of plastic from non samsung chargers with a sharp knife but its easy enough. I think it will protect your phone if its dropped as the corners of the screen is covered by the metal case.

Cheers for that! 400MB vs the 6GB Samsung have on it! Deal. :)
Sorry for digging up an old post but trying to install this ROM on a friends S4, rooted it no problem but no matter where I move the ROM to be it, sd card or on the actual phone I get

E: Can't open /data/media/0/Pure-Google-pre-rooted-4.3-v2.1.zip error message. I've been at it ages and after tonight I'm just telling him to stick with the bloatware!!

    Thanks

Wow that was the shortest time ive had a new phone :o , just sold mine today, it was a decent phone but just not for me, roll on the new Nexus. On the funny side i had never taken the plastic off my camera, i didnt know it was there, probably the reason some shots were a little blurry :D

    Hi all,
I have my S4 since around August it has Android 4.2.2 installed anyone know if a more up to date firmware has since been released,Also the battery life is getting worse can barely get 6/8 hours out of it,And that is with hardly any calls just texting and reading E mails.
    I am with 3.

I installed 4.3 using Odin the other day. Shag all difference that I can see. There's a new Reading Mode which changes the screen in some way that I can't see when you're using ebook apps. Apart from that no cosmetic differences. I only installed the new ROM as I shagged up the phone when trying to root it. So this was an emergency procedure with some breath holding.

The handy part about popping on the new ROM was that I could uninstall all the Vodafone apps that I never used but seemed to be running in the background. When I installed the ROM it didn't wipe my old data. I'd back up first though.

Make sure you're not over charging the device and that you're allowing it to go through full charge and decharge cycles.

Also make sure that the phone is in powersaver mode. Mine lasts all day anyway with moderate to heavy LCD and GPS usage in a day (I play Ingress on it alot).

There is a version of 4.3 on the way but it hasn't been released yet as far as I know.

I do have it on stand bye mode were by looking at the phone it seems to be turned off until a message comes through and it lights up,As for charging normally I plug the phone in just as I'm about to go to bed and don't unplug it till I wake up.

A note 2 is basically an S4 with a larger screen and some more bells and whistles.

A better question to ask would be: what are your requirements?

Try Snapdragon Battery Guru. It stops apps from refreshing pointlessly (I'm looking at you Google services, and your location services)

My battery has gone down to quiet good use, minimal I mediocre use during work leaves me with around 75% left at around 6PM. Then I pretty much kill it before midnight by checking news, fb, twitter and video.

Right now screen on time is standing at 2 hours since 7:40 this morning.

Also a good tip is to turn off any Google plus syncing and drop box gallery video, document and picture sync. Found those to take up a bit of battery life.

I've also 2 spare batteries and external battery charger to get me through heavier days when I'm away from the charger.

I've just installed the snapdragon app. It says it 8s in learning mode for 4 days and 3 hours. Does that timeline sound right?

Yup, just about. Takes a couple of days to calibrate. You can still manually select the apps and select their refresh settings.

At the moment I have battery defender and advance task killer should I delete them and just install the snap dragon app instead,Any opinions welcome.

I wouldn't bother with the task killer in the first place. Not 100% sure but I don't think there's any point of having two battery savers. I tries battery defender pro before and just didn't find it that helpful + it confused the **** out of me with its set up

Tap the widget to open. Press the menu button and you will be presented with settings option. Scroll to the last option which is 'set time'.
