Possible to retrospectively claim 2 months worth of jobseeker's allowance?

I'm wondering if anyone can help:

2 questions related to Jobseeker's Allowance

I came back from working in the States just over 2 months ago; since I'm not very bright I didn't apply for Jobseeker's Allowance immediately. I've since regained my wits, and am now applying. Can I apply retrospectively? As I mentioned I don't have a good reason.

Second, my situation is a little unusual: since I came back, I've been staying with a good friend. I would like to receive rent allowance so that I can give it to her. Since she is not officially a landlord and there is no lease agreement, is there any way that this would be possible?

1. JSA - not a hope.

2. Rent allowance - doesn't look good either.

If you can show you were looking for work during the 2 months you might get it back dated. You will have to provide proof if your return date, passport stamp or airline tickets.

Rent looks unlikely.

1) Nope. I was in a similar situation a couple years back and the guy in the office actually laughed at me when I questioned him about applying retrospectively!

2) Again nope! If it's not an official arrangement there's not a hope of getting it.
