    When you buy sheep in a mart with two tags,do you cut out one tag and stick in your own tags,and does it matter which ear

    Hi there,
    Not allowed any more. The tag number is for life. record in herd register. If she loses it , you reorder from supplier of your choice. Breeding stock get the electronic tag.
    Not sure what the procedure is if you buy ewe lambs in the mart which have got "mart" or "slaughter" tags, and keep them for breeding. I suppose you order electronic tags with their own flock and ID numbers on.
    Someone else will advise better, I am sure.

    Thanks iver,yeah the neighbour bought ewe lambs with double tags and he was wondering what was the story. He will be keeping alright for breeding.I said id ask me "advisers";)
