Bargain - replaced turbo and exhaust. Oil sludge might be an issue but looks well cared for so I think it looks like a real bargain.

@126k miles - that makes it attractive to me. Expensive work already carried out.

It is quite safe to assume that the turbo went because of oil starvation caused by the sludge problem. You could find that the timing chain is noisy and nobody knows how bad are the shells on the big ends as they are much softer on the 9-5 than the 9000.

I learned it the hard way.

Never even thought of that, makes sense now alright. :o

I better turn off the laptop and go to bed. This could get even more embarrassing

Is the whole point of bangernomics not drive it for 3 or 6 months and resell it for the original purchase price , therefore ruling out SAABs which are going the way of rovers

    Noooooo.

A well minded Rover lasts about as long as a drunken orgasm. A well minded Saab will be around for the rebirth of life on earth after the apocalypse.

    Indeed agreed

but like a drunken organism is surely worth nothing in FUTURE.

Therefore breaks the Bangernomics rules by not getting a refund , much like the hoouer giving no refund for premature EJ and by that I I don't mean Eddie Jordan

Every car is worth something. Maybe not what the seller wants for it, but it is worth something.

I've owned both a Rover 75 and a Saab 9-5, both as bangernomics, and I ran both of them for several years on a near zero budget. Both proved to be reliable and comfortable family cars. No major issues on either of them

The Rover is a supremely comfortable car to drive (float), the interior is of very poor standard and just falls apart. The K-series is an excellent light weight engine, but give it to an ignorant fool Irish owner and chances are he will screw it up

The Saab (despite we all know that it is based on an '80s Opel Vectra) is very, very well put together. If you do not get the sludge engine oil issue, this car will last forever. Probably the most trustworthy car I have owned. And whoever was the dude from Sweden who designed the cupholder, he deserves a lot of praise as his design has raised millions of smiles :)

It's rover that screwed it up when they designed it. Tbh no amount of maintenance could prevent these from giving issues. A disaster of an engine Imo.

I'm kinda looking around for a 2 door 9-3 aero myself, there are far less of them knocking around than a few years ago :(

    Easily tuned to 400bhp?
Don't know my Saabs at all but it seems a bit of a BS statement - open to correction on this

    Possible yes!
    Easy? **** no.

All that extra power would have me wondering what sort of pressure the car is under.

REPOST;) I posted that already a few weeks ago from my own proper watch-list before I bought my tax friendly little honda instead....

Last of the proper Saabs IMHO 9-5s & 9-3s just dont do it for me.

you would be better off buying that super reliable & faster & more rare & subtle 9000 if was you:cool:
