Job sharing inquiry

Hi. My maternity leave is due to end soon and I'm thinking of job sharing. I've read the Dept. of Ed. Circular but I'm wondering if anyone has or is job sharing? Is it easy to get another teacher to job share and how would I go about doing it? I teach in a 4 teacher school and I'm also the deputy principal. Do boards of management usually sanction requests? Would job sharing be more suited in a learning support/ resource capacity? Thanks in advance.

If you post on the education posts forum you'll get lots of info. We have job sharers in our school, they teach a mainstream class and it works really well, though they say they have to be pretty organised with planning and recording what's been covered each week. They reapply to the BOM every year to get approval. I think you can look for a job share partner in the edposts forum or I think I may have seen ads in intouch magazine. The girls I know say they end up with about 60% of salary because they pay less tax, pension etc. It will effect your pension/future maternity leaves because you are only working half the year which may be something to consider if you were planning in doing it long term.
