A friend of mine has a mk2 gti and she's a lovely machine, I think the vintage thing only allows you a certain mileage annually or something like that?
Not to up on it though man!
Yeah the bmw is a diesel alright, she does 50,000 miles a year so I couldn't touch petrol :)

I'm kind of looking at diesel's too, but if I could get the vintage thing to work, I wouldn't mind it being petrol as the tax is 52 euro per year, no NCT... not too sure about insurance though...

My tax is €1494 these days :( Thats the one drawback.

Ah the NCT is only a small thing really man, for the sake of the €50 like!

I'm in the same boat on the tax, haven't had to face it yet got 6 months tax on the car when I bought it, but its up in January don't think ill enjoy the feeling of handing that much over for tax when it comes though.

That was a great deal Marty, I only got a month that was left on the car that I bought!

Mine hadn't been taxed since October 2010!:p
Thank Christ the tax doesn't follow the car, they'd have wanted to pay me to take it if it did.

Bmw, even if it's a diesel is much much nicer.
I can see why you always go on about external mods...you must have spent a small fortune on the focus, yet a fiesta was faster!:P

I dont think i've ever gotten any tax on any car I bought, except 1 month on the golf.

It was a kick to buy the e60 and then the same month pay 1.5k tax!

Oh scortho, I would be embarrassed to say to be honest!
The car would be stone dead with nothing to add at about 150kmh
0-100 took roughly 12 or 13 seconds if I remember
It was probably because of all the plastic I added on :D

and Ichi I barely ever got a bit of time off tax!

You shouldn't have been liable for that if the tax was out 13 months before you bought it!

I wont lie getting 6 months tax does soften the blow a bit knowing you wont have to fork that much out immediately after :), that and the fact they offered me more for the Accord than anyone else it really softened the blow :).

I wasn't. Just meant I'd to fork out for tax straight away :P

Tbh he probably gets similar mpg to your 530d and although petrol I more expensive he saves a lot on tax, service consumables, tyres etc etc so he probably does slightly better on running costs than you but you do it in a lot more comfort :)

That last bit is debateable ;) I get around high 30's 40's if I'm good :P and a plan is in the pipelines for a new interior, but that's a while away yet
