I like them, a lot actually.

But they would look absolutely horrendous on an 8 series. Matt black/Carbon colored ones of those would look great on my 535d, imo

I actually do like them but you're right people sticking modern wheels on a older car just looks all sorts of wrong.

Seen a Mercedes 500 sec fully restored beautiful looking car but it had modern AMG alloys on it and it just looked completely out of place.
