So all the lucky bastards, who got your game already - Is it good? Does it really look so good as it is in those trailers? I am very sceptical when it comes to trailers as those looked like proper 1080p stuff and I doubt it looked like this in reality.

So I guess no spoiler stuff, but is it good as the hype makes it?

No, I dont really like delivery. Living in the countryside it can be very patchy.

I'm thinking Tesco or Argos. But Gamestop are doing their Trade-in 2 games + a 10er for it. If your willing to trade in GTA4 then you can get Lego LOTR, which is on the list, in argos for ~24 quid

Forgiveable though, it's a gigantic map running on 7 year old hardware, remember that box you're playing it on is older than GTA IV. From what I've seen of gameplay (actual gameplay) vids it looks great tbh, the world is brilliantly detailed.

I have resisted looking so far... I remember thinking San Andreas pushed the PS2 about as far as they reasonably could. Guess R* have done it again. Just hope it's fun (on PC). :P

For anyone on the fence, or who decided to give GTA5 a punt despite not being 100% sure it's for them: if you don't like GTA in general, you won't like this. If you find GTA incredibly repetitive or boring, you'll last about 4 hours with this. For all its ambition and technical prowess, it's the very same GTA game as previously.

That's not a bad thing, I'm sure, for the millions of fans out there, but it absolutely will not sway you on the series if you don't like it - if anything it'll just frustrate you more

It is tacking as expected all the big sites are giving 10/10 or 5/5 just like GTA4 got and we know how that turned out. I do expect it to be a technical achievement and will enjoy playing it but the usual hype train is as bad as the rush to the bottom.

The escapist is already getting hammered for giving it 3.5 out of 5.

the escapist review actually made me chuckle with this part of their review

It is the difference between The Godfather Part 1 and Part 2, between Inglorious Basterds and Triumph of the Will, and between Just Cause 2 and JFK Reloaded. In the former examples, the audience can get behind the anti-heroes depicted for whatever reason and condone their admittedly awful actions, but in the latter group, the subject matter or the protagonist's morals are skewed too far from the norm to be comfortably witnessed. Professional critics get the release copy a few days ahead of time. You do have to take into account thought that with a game like this (probably the biggest of the year), they will devote a huge portion of their resources into getting it out on time.

Metacritic scores at the time of writing are 98 on 360 and 97 on PS3. A video review I saw said that things such as the writing and humour have been improved a lot and it does look better but I'm still dubious about the game after the mass hype surrounding GTA4 on launch.

I'll definitely play it at some point anyway in the not-distant future. A previous poster said "If you find GTA incredibly repetitive or boring, you'll last about 4 hours with this" but I did finish GTA4 and its DLC to the end and it was more the writing and story that put me off than it's repetitive nature. I could deal with the repetition if the characters were more engaging.
