Cool. Is it ok to clean the window with standard window cleaner such as this which I have or does it have to be their G4?

Yeah that's fine. Gtechniq say to use their glass polish but all you want is a clean, streak-free surface for the product to bond to.

Tip: When you first wipe the glass to dry the cleaner off, immediately turn it to a dry side and remove the streaks before they dry. This ensures a minimum of streaks ;)

I didnt wax/polish the car after cleaning yesterday as I thought there was enough wax on it, as it was repelling the water.

Should you still wax and/or polish the car after washing every time?

You don't have to, a good polish and wax (depending on the product) should last about 8 weeks. What you can do is use a booster wax like Turtle Wax's Wax-It-Wet after washing. Just spray it on and dry with a microfibre.

Its not like that detailing spray demon shine so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,920 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Demon Shine adds a very glossy coat to a car but it also removes the hydrophobicity of the wax because it coats it whereas Wax-It-Wet is an actual wax rather than just gloss enhancer which Demon Shine is.

Hi would the stuff be for putting on after the full treatment such as de taring, claying and waxing/polishing.

What gives best results from any of your experience and Curran would you have any?

Sorry was just looking because the bad weather is coming and wanted something to protect as much as possible.

I am confused with all the different stuff out there.

I took advice off everyone on this and recently received the foam lance got 1 to fit Karcher and put shampoo in which covered the car really good and had AG de tar so used that on really bad spots, had some alloy cleaner(turtle wax) and it done ok, I have turtle wax ice and like the finish off it is there anything else to add. Thanks for the reply Curran.

Have you any plans to stock a cerium oxide cutting compound? My windscreen is quite badly scuffed and I don't want to put an expensive coating on a scratched windscreen.

ok today I took to laying down my winter protection I started this morning by snowfoaming the car with magnifoam blue (the suds turn blue when on the car :-P De-tared the car useing autobrite just the tonic tar and glue remover, snowed the car again to remove the solvent. Then clayed it useing autobrite berryblast qd and a autobrite fine grade claybar again the car was snowed it to remove any residue from the clay. Then it at this point I cleaned the wheels useing autobrite very cherry acid free wheel cleaner and chemical guys wheel whollies. Then the car was properly dryed useing a dry me crazy drying towel. next I started useing black t-cut colour fast, after this was a polish useing ag srp, next in line was a first for me I glazed the car, unbelievable differnce in my eyes anyway for this I used autobrite extream glaze show glaze. Finnaly I got onto sealing the paint for this I used autobrite project 32 sealent, this had to sit for one hour after removeing befor I could layer again or wax ontop of, so I got started on my wheels I used wonder wheels wheel sealent this had to sit for one hour aswell befor removeing. So into the house I went came out later and removed this then I dresssed the tires first useing megs endurance tire gel, I alowd this to dry in while I applyed the first of 2 coats of megs liquid gold class wax. Then used wonder wheels tire sealent ontop of the tire gel to lock in the shine. I then moved onto glass I used hell shine pain glass cleaner for this great stuff very easy to buff to a streak free shine. I applyed ghost rider glass sealent and rain repellent then on the windscreen while the other windows got ag glass polish. After I done all this by hand my arms were hanging so I will wait till tomorrow to do the interior haha below is photos of both the products used (well most haha). And the finnished product im really happy with it anyway.

Been quite a while since I posted anything as I've not done anything too major in the last few months (I blame the new Mrs Dar, but she's probably worth it...:p ) but I gave the car a bit of Autumn preparation at the weekend. Foam wash, regular wash, dry, clay, foam wash, regular wash, dry, paint cleaner, polish, 2 coats of wax.

Funnily enough only have one picture of the final product and not from the best of angles, but you get the idea.

I need to wash my car. Wont be this weekend, and might not be the weekend after! Sucks not having a) any of my car cleaning stuff in Dublin and b) a place to wash my car in Dublin.
