In store I imagine. Out of curiosity I asked the price instore awhile back and was quoted €64.99. Online is ways a few euro cheaper.

The reason I ask is I worked in Gamestop til last month. We would get no communication in til morning of release of a big title. That communication would be a final, release price change. Happened for infinite etc.
    If its 60 online I'd say its 60 or 65..hopefully 60.
I'll call one of the managers tomorrow and see if they got any communication as its a huge release.

That's the problem with gamestop. Often you'll be quoted a price of €45 or €55 when you preorder. If you take the step of preordering you will more often than not go in on release day to be told that the price is in fact €5-€10 more and unless you pay it you ain't getting your game. HMV were not only far more competitive but if you ordered in a game at €35 (without paying for it) and the release day price was €55, HMV only charged you) €35.

Exactly. They price staff are giving out is what they read off a screen which can change weekly.
Its essentially a pre order list. Alot of prices are placed there so the product can be pre ordered.

65 euro for a game is madness alright. I wouldnt buy anything from gamestop, except when they have offers on - which can be very good. I got GTAV preordered for 28euro thanks to their last one

If you bothered to read all my post I already confirmed the instore price of €65. No one is forcing anyone to pay that and anyone who prepaid for it is a moron.

i am paying 65 in-store......so guess that makes me a moron, but you already think that :)

Considering that it's £35 on amazon then yes, if you're paying €65 you're a moron. If it was me I'd be going in and using my preorder credit to pick up a few other things and then order off of amazon using parcel motel.

With parcel motel you'll have a day or so after release and tbh I'd happily wait a day or three if it meant that I had saved 25 or so euro.

They got the 2 Games & €10 deal with it but the last time I checked that list Gamestop were doing their homework no more Black Ops 1 + Sherlock Holmes for BioShock Infinite in sight
    :(

I pre-ordered from amazon.co.uk a few hours ago. Worked out at just under 45 Euro......... :-) Happy to wait a few days after release with such a large saving!

Normally, i wouldn't dream of paying 65 for a standard game. But this is GTA V, and i'm getting it on Monday at midnight. I have leave taken at work and don't have to be back until 25/09. I have nothing else planned. That 65 will literally keep me entertained for an entire week (minus 6 hours a day sleep), and many more beyond that.

Sure, i might have got it cheaper in Xtra-Vision, Tesco, wherever, and still got it at midnight, but the GameStop staff in Waterford are brilliant, and we usually end up getting free Pizza. I might be paying €65, but i'm getting way more than what it's worth! (Even if most of the profit is going to GameStop - they're a business, of course they're going to capatalise on a sure-thing!).

let none of you ever complain again about the price of games in bricks and mortar stores then so

I wonder if all blind gamestop bashers live on some pink cloud, which says " Me! Me! And only Me!!!!".
You do realise that RRP is still 65eu, right? That is set by publisher, not retailer. Retailers takes pennies of that price tag. So any cut they will make on RRP it will be their part cut, not publishers. If retailer wants to stay alive, it needs to make money. It's not there to do you a favour, it's there to do business.
Just because Irish gamers got so used to price war in games shops, does not mean that we are entitled to bog low prices. We all sow how this ended up, stores closed down, staff let go.
If you want to bark at someone due to high game prices, then bark at publishers and their big RRP tags, which they refuse to lower point blank. so why no one is barking at retailers for selling ps4/xbox one for retail price? Surely gamestop should sell them cheaper at the loss!

And you know what, in the end of the day, you choose where to buy, that's a beauty of free market. Don't like gamestop price? Go buy it in Tesco. Done. I love my gamestop, but I got my copy preordered on Amazon. I would love to get it day one in local gamestop, but I am broke. So I take alternative cheaper version, but with delay.

im just going to wait until it's on a humble bundle

i might get it on a steam sale if it's 75% off, but i don't know if it'd be worth a tenner really.

Diffrent things work for diffrent people , for me 65 euro up front is something i'd never be able to afford but because i pre ordered 3 months ago i can go in weekly and pay off whatever i can afford , have the 65 comfortably covered at this stage and i get my game midnight monday can't complain really

I don't think 65 quid for hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay is that much, it's a night on the beer really. You get an absolute ton of value for money on games like this. Like cinema prices, I went to see Riddick the other night, cost me 20 bucks between the ticket, a drink, popcorn and sweets, and the film was sh1te, that's a third of the cost of GTAV and I'll still (hopefully) be playing that for months to come.

gamestop will pay nowhere near that go buy in the copies of the game. I worked in an independent store when part IV came out and we were selling it for cheaper than gamestop even though we were paying more for each copy. Gamestop will be bulking buy thousands and thousands of copies and as such will get a furthur discount on the stock. They could easily sell the game for less and make a profit, but like they've been doing for years gamestop are happy to charge the absolutely most that they can get away with. This is afterall the same store that charged €60 for Deadly Premonition, a game whose PS3 release was at a budget price.

Gamestop have a trade-in deal of 9.99 with 2 trade-in games. If you have a bit of time get the list from the store and then go look for pre-owned games.

The likes of battleship is on that list and can be picked up cheap enough. You can easily save €20 on the cost of the game if you can find 2 games on the list.
