Ecommerce store

    If I set up an online store using wordpress and woocommerce,
    am I correct that once I am using paypal as merchant, that I do not need SSL?

    According to woocommerce, no as you're forwarding the customer to the paypay website to make the payment.

    There are much nicer/easier ways of accepting payments than PayPal though.

    Can i ask what else you would reccommend?
    I am trying to avoid those that have a monthly charge

    I'd have a look at Stripe. It's quick and easy to sign up for, there's no monthly fee, transaction charges are quite reasonable and WooCommerce have a Stripe payment plugin.

    Are you selling (planning to sell) real products or digital products? How many different products do you think your e-commerce site will have? Will you be charging for shipping? Will you be taking orders from overseas?

    Thanks, hadnt know about stripe, they a new company or ?
    Hoping to just sell one dvd on a festival site and maybe take donations.
    Would I need to use ssl if I used stripe ?
    Am debating the postage thing, maybe just have an inclusive price

    All of the credit card transaction take place on the Stripe servers so similar requirements to PayPal. I guess with a DVD, you don't have to worry that much about postage costs, either an all-in price or a fixed P & P rate.

    Stripe are one of the darlings of the tech world at the moment, only just launched in Ireland but in the US/UK for a while.

    I presume its easy to pull money back into a bank account from it too?
    Do u have any example of a site using it.
    Have a small possibily of a site selling some clothing,
    is it easy to work in a p&p rate?

    There's thousand of sites using Stripe now, payments are remitted to your bank after 7 days if I remember correctly.

    You should look after the P & P within your e-commerce solution, payment processors really only want a final figure from you. WooCommerce would take care of a small clothing line but you will need to consider how to handle returns etc.

    never did think of that,
    how wud you need to allow for returns or wud that be a problem to be sorted via email and the seller?
