Gmail - Recent Activity Log

    Hi there,

I was reviewing my Gmail Recent Activity this evening and I noticed that my account had been accessed from London a few times in the last few weeks. I've changed my password just in case but I wanted to ask if perhaps it's an innocuous login from another machine I use perhaps. (possibly work machine which might be routed differently)

Activity is logged as London (I'm in Dublin).

Googling the IP address says it's Cisco Scansafe static IP - Does this mean anything to anyone?

    Any insight appreciated.

Any chance that you are using Gmail from work and your employers web traffic is being routed through UK ?

Yes, it's certainly possible alright and I've thought about that. The only thing is that I log in from my work machine most days but the activity from London is much less frequent than that. I'll keep an eye on it now that I've changed password etc.

Also, sometimes I log in to the work wifi network on my work phone so that network might route through a different system and appear as London.

    Thanks for your reply.

ScanSafe is a secure web gateway service used to block malware and to secure email and messaging. They have an office in London.

Contact your IT department and establish / confirm, they are using Scansafe, and you can probably rest easy.

Enable 2 step account verification, for some added account protection :)
