Hi folks,
going to build a cheap pc and am looking for advice.It will be fairly basic and just used for general browsing and a little office work.

1. What is your budget?
Around €300.

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?
internet browsing,downloading music/films,small office work

3. Do you need a copy of Windows?
No.

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer?
No

5. Do you need a monitor?
No.Have a 1920 x 1080.

6. Do you need any of these peripherals?
No.

7. Are you willing to try overclocking?
No,wouldn't bother

8. How can you pay?
doesn't matter

9. When are you purchasing?
within the next few weeks.

10. If you need help building it, where are you based?
I should be ok putting things together

Only things I want for sure are 1Tb HDD and 8GB ram after that I,m not fussy.
any help advice is appreciated.

Maybe so, but when it comes to computers it about getting the fastest hardware in your price envelope. Who knows what programs you might want to run over the next few years.

Cheers for that.I will be buying the parts soon.
I am hoping the build will last a good few years and am willing to add another €50 or so if needs to be.
I also found this link and it still seems to work so that will also save me a few quid.

Is there any need to upgrade any thing if I had another 50 to 70 to spend.I won't go over €400 .

For an extra €50 you could upgrade the processor to this.

And the board to this.

Quad core and a better igp. You probably don't need it at the moment but it should last you longer. The board has sata 600 and usb3 as well.

You should consider squeezing this case into the build too.

You're going to need 1 extra sata cable as well.

SSD is a large chunk of the budget. I really don't notice the difference between having an SSD and no SSD except for boot times when you have a decent processor. My script isn't working but how does this below look.

He doesn't need a more powerful processor. As it is the A8 is overkill for his needs and the ssd will give far more noticeable performance gains than a slightly faster processor. It's far from just about boot times. For multi tasking, general windows use, program responsiveness ect the ssd will give a far better pc experience.

Well if you don't notice the difference there your not using an SSD
