Could be the red one, saw Kevin McLoughlin in Croke Park wearing it when he was promoting the game along with Stephen O'Neill.

Surely Mayo will wear the first jersey, don't see how it would clash with Tyrone's?

COC was wearing the red jersey as well for the photo for the article on him.

There's never been a colour clash between Mayo and Tyrone so I expect both will be wearing their first jerseys, it has always been thus! Both Mayo and Tyrone's second jerseys are primarily red so you can guarantee that neither will be wearing them!

You're right and hopefully we are wearing our home jersey.

Minors look to have the winning of this, Monaghan defence looks creaky.

Great reaction from Mayo to the Monaghan goal.

That referee in the minor match is brutal. Too finicky:mad: Not allowing the play to develop. Great display by Mayo, though.

That's half the job done, hopefully the seniors do as well.

    Job done.

Tyrone are a pig of a team to play against, just what we needed.

    Huge call needed regarding Andy.

Real shame for Cillian,Michael Conroy is likely to start the final.Agreed big call needed re Andy.Thought Seamie O Shea or Alan Freeman were MOTM, big performances Lee Keegan and Chris Barrett.

Varley did nothing to say he'd be a better option than Andy and that'll be the decision for the final, maybe Doherty makes a last-gasp run. Freeman and Conroy are sure to start.

Agreed, Varley is much better as an impact sub imo. The only other option I could see is a two man full forward line with Feeney/Carolan coming in

Is Doherty fit at the moment?

I was very very surprised that Varley lasted until the end today. He did score a wonderful right footed point at a crucial stage. But other than that, he was extremely poor.

I should say Andy's knee was bothering him more than usual today, he had it checked out just before throw-in and there was obvious bandaging under his sock. Maybe if it improves in the weeks ahead he'll gain enough to at least be a threat in the final.

I think the team had a rude awakening today, but they didn't flag and rallied to show they still have the athleticism needed to pull away from a strong and physical team. They hopefully will take away a lot of lessons. I was very impressed with Barrett. I thought he was immense and scored some key points just as they were needed. C O'C is a big loss, and I don't know if Moran is fit enough as it stands to go up against a strong Dublin for a full game.

And have we all forgotten the minor team already?

They put in a huge performance today. I can't see them being beaten after what they put out oN the pitch today. They were awesome and played Monaghan off the pitch. The number 13 was outstanding!

Spoiled for choice today we were.

Yes Darragh Doherty was the best forward on display. Tyrone have excellent record at this level they won't let the occasion get to them like Monaghan did today and Roscommon under Fergal O'Donnell are tough team to beat as this year Connacht minor final has already proved.

Like the seniors Mayo have lost the last six minor All Ireland finals in row 2009,2008,2005,2000,1999,1991 so they are also due to win one.

Steady on your hype machine. Did you see the Connacht semi or final? Absolutely nothing between the top three in Connacht this year. If Tyrone are good enough to beat us they'll give Mayo a serious game too.

Very few years is anything sure at minor before it's a done and dusted. Cian likely being out is a massive blow for Mayo. Darragh Doherty was 13.

As Syferus said, Rossies ran us very close. Rossies are favorites for the AI title and I expect, IF Tyrone play football as opposed to the ugly football they played in the QF, that Rossies will be there in the AI with us.
Delighted with the minors display, some of their points were excellent. Hanley will probably miss it.

Seniors... PHEW! Needed a game like that and kick in the arse to wake us up. Will stand us better in the final.
Thought Freeman did well in the end, took over from COC. Seamie had a massive game.
Andy was slow to the ball, thought Varley was shocking poor, Conroy and Carolan much better.
Distraught for COC, guy is pure quality and we are going to miss him badly.

I'm afraid Mayo are the red-hot favourites for the minor AI now, Yop, so that's your cross to bear ;)

No, Rossies are still favorites. Cross back in your garden now chief.

Wonder could the Dubs (if it's them) try to provoke AOS into an early red card, they might reckon it's worth sacrificing one of their own men to achieve this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 angelclar

Would be surprised it Dublin tried that with AOS , They know that he reacts easily

I have always thought that Mayo would make the final but have not been as positive about them actually winning it.

And I am still not sure about it after yesterdays game.

From the positive side I think that both Dublin and Kerry play a more open brand of football than Tyrone did and that in a way will help Mayo and their more expansive game.
On the negative side I think that if Mayo are as unsettled in the opening quarter or half v Dublin as they were v Tyrone then it will be lights out.
I would not be a worried if Mayo got off to a poor start v Kerry, I am not convinced that this Kerry team have the stamina for a hard 70mins and in that scenario I would be more optimistic of Mayo doing as they did yesterday and coming back at them and seeing out the game.

Obviously the Cillian O' Conor injury is a concern but the managed have to have been expecting something like this happening at any time in the last few months and now have 4 weeks to work on getting someone confident with frees.

Not sure about Andy Moran, he is not back to the way he was pre the injury.
I would love to see Conroy start, he was brilliant in 2012 I though and still thing he can make an impact.

I was very impressed with the back when Tyrone came looking for goals late in the game, they really snuffed them out, and one key part of it Higgins was back there.
Should they persist with him at half forward or just put him back where he belongs and possibly put Carloan in the half forward line.

Oh and everyone can drop the 'they haven't been tested' line now please.
