    Nearly one year NCT.

Was it your friend that skanger-ised that car or the previous owner?

No I never seen it in person, but looks good to me. Lexus lights at rear, dual exhaust, mivec body kit, 19 inch alloys, year NCT.

Id have no qualms driving it as a daily myself comfy cars with loads of spec:cool:(I often borrowed it & im speaking from experience)..& I generally dont like fat mk4s...It all went downhill after the mk2 16v imho

Firstly. It is over priced. It is over the price stated in the rules. The fact it can be got cheaper means nothing. Most of the cars on donedeal have wiggle room in the price but that doesn't mean we can start posting cars we thing we can get for under the €2k limit.
Secondly, that car certainly does not have loads of spec. It has shítty alloys that look tiny on the car. It has a terribly after market radio, some of the blanks are damaged or missing, doesn't have an armrest, has a terrible interior that is uncomfortable to sit in due to the hard material used. That's before we get to the engine which is underpowered any gives loads of hassle.

Like I said there is nothing on that car that would bring me to buy it. The cost to run that car means it has no place in this thread, friend or no friend.

That car is rough to be fair. The bonnet looks like it's been resprayed(badly) at some point and it's a different colour, the rest of the paint work isn't in that good of a condition either.

As for the alloys, 19 inch alloys don't belong on those mirage's. They are just way too big.

The inside looks even worse. And it's gone up in value in 24 days. New owner?

Look as for the "asking" price it happens here on a regular enough basis I dont know what your getting your knickers in a twist over that tiny little point for?

It has the standard vw alloys that it left the factory with.they do look tiny at 15ins but great for the comfort on our sh1tty roads.its not a race car mate.

it has a nice pioneer cd head unit that matches the blue backlit dials.
one blank is ajar I did that I did that myself i forgot to put it fix that before he left.its not broken just ajar honestly.

it has 4ew cl em rcl alarm everything bar climatronic ,armrest & leather afik, an armrest could be picked up for pennys 2nd hand if it bothered you that much .

the material never gave me any probs & i have a sensetive ass..nice supportive seats & nice looking too with the red panels imho

I know full well the potential for some 1.4 & 1.6 mk4s to sh1t themselves & I know this car has been well looked after & it has no issues its just a fine family car its fine on petrol thb no worse than any 1.6 car in its class ..

it never is going to be a gti/tdi & it feels a little heavy off the line (in 1st gear only) but once driving its genuinely fine.its around 105bhp

Thanks, I have a 1.8 petrol 03. But the head gasket has gone and garage quoted me 900 - 1100 for repair...

I got head gasket replaced on it about 2 years ago for less than 600 by a rover dealer in Ballymote Sligo, but that place has closed now.

I am not willing to pay out that kind of money on this car, and cant realy afford to get a car for more than 1500 at same time.

Any opinion on cars around that price in Sligo are will be most welcome, as I haven’t a clue really....

my local motor factors are advertising some type of liquid which is poured into the rad, they recon it fixes the head gasket prob without a trip to a garage.

Bangernomics is for cars that are priced under €2000 and represent good value. For example, a '93 Starlet with a years tax and test for €2000 is not bangernomics, The same can be said for the golf.

Also lol at high spec, It has an electric window on the drivers side and the passengers side. WOW. It also has the second from worst engine offered in the mk4.

Your friend should quickly take any offer north of €1000 imo, He might get lucky though:)

You'd be surprised how much love there is out there for golfs and polos.
Friend of mine sold a boloxed mk4 150k miles with ****ty Lexus lights and alloys Kerbed to hell for 1800 with 2 months nct.
It was the 1.4 version though.
On the other hand she well overpaid for it 2 years earlier.

    Jaypers that's interesting...

    A cheap and economical v6. :D

I hear ya but as mentioned 10 times at this stage its only his ASKING price & he is not in any hurry for a sale just as well..

for a 2002 1.6 golf it HAS high enough factory spec being a uk import.its not a brand new s class ffs:rolleyes: it even has 4 ew for its 4doors for more whores:cool:

By that logic any car above 2k can be posted here as its only an asking price.

It does get rediculous alright at some times.
Which can be eased by posting bangers.

I have personal knowledge of the car & price & how hard is it for you to see it will definitly sell for under 2k eventually....

Should I ask my friend to edit his as to €1999.99 just to keep yourself happy?

its completely different logic to what your suggesting & its not the same as someone grabbing some random unknown car from DD etc for 4k & throwing it up here & GUESSING they would get it under 2k and you MUST know this

    Anal much?

Well I know you don't like 'em at all I merely commented on how it was interesting about Mk4 Golfs. You could maybe try be less condescending too btw, anyone who's driven mine has loved it. ;)

I do apologise to other boardsies for the bickering, so went out and found this

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/vw-golf-3/5563317

NCT is only to December but it looks really clean. For €600 could be a decent car for the student starting college in a few weeks and wanting something with a decent badge!

Also have a soft spot for these, when insurance becomes manageable I may look into getting one.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/02-volvo-s60-mint-condition/5332334

Not sure on length of NCT but buy on condition at this end of the budget. Colour and wheel combo really suit it too.

    No grant, 2.5 v6 and a college student. :D

    I'm confused by your post, it's only a 1.4.
Being a 1.4, I'm confused by 166man posting it in the first place!:pac:
