Your orientation is probably on the 16th but unfortunately you have another week to wait because lectures don't commence until the 23rd of September :(:pac:

It's normally about 2/3 days sometime during that week.

Depends what direction you're facing, and how long it takes the post-grad volunteers to turn you around till you're facing the right way. They've loads of first years to do that week. That's why it takes so long. If it was just yourself, they'd probably have you oriented around the right way in under half an hour.

What direction do you usually face?

Depends really. If someone isn't really certain in which direction it is best for them to face, normally I would do my best to help them by showing them the right direction.

If I didn't feel I wanted to - or could - do that, then I would probably face my own direction and mind my own business :)

    How about you? :P

Generally just shy of north by north west....

Orientation really isn't that big a deal in Maynooth. You'll know the town and college like the back of your hand in a day or so. What'll you be studying?

Been there and back twice. Finished undergrad in 2000, back for more in 2005. Good old spot. Big enough to stay interesting, but not big enough to get lost in. Best of luck with it all.

    ;)

Engineers are few and far in between it seems in Maynooth. Ah no, probably not, but in my entire 1st year I haven't met 1 person studying Engineering :P

Hi, my daughter is starting 1st year too. Does the first semester for all courses start on September 23rd? Luckily enough she has on campus housing (Rye) so should be moving in on 15th and I think there is orientation that week, but no lectures?
