2nd class, any formal testing?

    son was STen'd in first class?
    are there formal tests in Second, curious? My understanding was that it was first/third/fifth?

    By "Sten-ed" I presume you mean the standardised tests like Drumcondra/Micra/sigma. Legally they do not have to be done each year, but we prefer to do them from 1st to 6th each year -as do many other schools. They must now be done in the last term, before schools could choose to test in autumn ,but not any more.

    They have to be done in 2nd, 4th and 6th with overall results sent to department and child's results communicated to their parents. If you got STen results from your child in 1st, that would suggest that his school do the standardised testing in every class from 1st to 6th.
