What effect does taking extra modules have on GPA?

If I were to take say 8 modules instead of the required 6 for my course, would all 8 modules be counted towards my GPA or would it just be the 6 best? (I need to increase my GPA this year so trying to think of ways to do it!)

    Just the 6 best.

The additional workload, btw, would probably result in you doing worse in all of them than if you just spent that extra time on the correct amount of modules. Would be cheaper too.

Raphael is right. Waste of time (and money..).

How much is it to do an extra module, I've had a good look on the website but can't seem to find an answer aha

Seems to vary by school and program, but about 500 quid for a 5 credit module seems to be the norm.

Apparently extra credit modules don't count towards your GPA at all (and so are kind of useless - best just to audit the module rather than paying for nothing). I checked with the student adviser, Aisling O'Grady, today.

Kind of a kick in the gut, but it's mentioned here too: http://www.ucd.ie/registry/academicsecretariat/asug/assessmentgradingandexaminers/asugtitle,39256,en.html

Well you can always use a module as a substitution if the situation allows that, but substitutions are expensive.
