So you didn't think he should be sacked?

Or will you just back anyone unequivocally if they're employed by the club?

Managers come and go, just like players,
All can be replaced, (call me crazy) but Liverpool will be there forever.
    And thats who i support.
    However,
I may disagree with some managers /players appointment,.

Right now, as it stands, I think our league performance will be improved on last season, but not enough to really challenge for 4th right till the end.

    That's unacceptable.

Also worth pointing our we're not in Europe next season. Should help improve our league points tally.

In a similar way to how last years abysmal showing in the cups obviously helped us pick up a few points in the league.

I think anything other than being in the mix for top 4 until very close to the end of the season should be unacceptable.

This is nothing to do with Benitez. He is manager of Napoli now. It's to do with the fact we've not substantially improved our first team to expect any great improvement in our league performances this season.

It's to do with the fact that there is nothing in our managers career to date to indicate he is capable of bringing us to where we need to be.

It's to do with the fact that our owners seem more concerned with slashing wage bills than bringing the club back to the CL.

Its pretty clear to me the club are showing ambition.

We have been extremely strong in protecting the assets we wish to keep (Suarez) and proactive in offloading under performing assets (Downing, Carroll, Spearing, Reina).

We tried hard to get Mkhitaryan and are trying hard to sign William. Signing top quality players is not easy, not least when we aren't in CL.

Rodgers doesn't get enough credit on here for the football we are playing which is brillant to watch
i know alot of fans will say they don't care how they win but for me its very important to see Liverpool playing in a very attacking & exciting way

Significant investment into the first team. Both the wage bill & transfer budget.

Begin the search for a proven top quality replacement for Rodgers.

I take it you don't support Rodgers?
    If not Why?

So we should heavily invest in the team whilst looking for a new manager who might not want them players, that is not very clever.

I don't think you realise a) how good the top 5 I'm England are, and b) the low ebb we were at when Rodgers took over.

We need to improve this season, but if we get 67/68 points we might still be well off 4th

Of course, but that's how things stand at the moment. There are still 2 weeks for that to change, so I'll be making my mind up on the window when the window closes and not before.

Doing anything else is just giving yourself a headache.

A lot of the football we played last season was ****e. We've played 1 game this season.

People thinking Rodgers should actually get praise for style of play when we romp home in 7th place in the league & are embarrassingly poor in the cups. Incredible.

I don't really see the point in waiting. Hopefully I'm wrong & we pull a couple of top quality signings out of the bag.

Ah Al, you aren't convincing anybody, sure you came out with the Rafa thing about Reina and Skrtel.

Our owners have consistently spent money in windows, January 2012 the exception, because of the year before. They never promised a spade in the ground or nonsense like that, they said they'd spend sensibly, and after reneging on that promise in the Summer of 2011 spent big, wasted a pile of money, have spent more diligently since.

I'd love us to spend £80 Million and rectify every position we could strengthen in, only City and Spurs are near that around us, and Bale could be gone.

I am on the phone so could someone stick up that gif where the lad tries to throw the grenade out of the bunker but it lands back in the bunker?

    Excuses. Excuses. Excuses.

Good to get them in early I guess.

It is not about aesthetics. Its a style that has become more effective the longer his tenure has gone on. Its about creativity and flair, which is difficult to coach and difficult to defend against

Excuses? I've already laid out my expectations for this season for the manager.

They promised we'd increase the wage bill. Before they began slashing it.

They promised we'd be able to compete with anyone on transfer fees/wages.

How rose tinted were the glasses you wore the previous season to that i wonder given that last season saw a huge improvement in the style of football.

The lad is acting like a petulant child, so the tactics are appropriate

As someone neither popular or well known enough on this thread to be considered a member of either camp, I believe I have a degree of impartiality. The school yard tactics are clearly used by both sides of the divide.

Excuses? I've already laid out my expectations for this season for the manager.

    And they're pathetic.

Essentially you're saying the manager can piss around in 6th/7th for the next couple of seasons & you'll still think he is bringing us forward.

It doesnt matter what anyone thinks at the end of the day, its about results and not about whether you like the style of play or whatever, Arsenal played the best football i had seen in years about 4 or 5 years ago, where are they now?.

Another season of no challenge in the cups and not qualifying for Europe cannot be defended by anyone if that happens. I'd consider 6th/63/4pts an absolute minimum to keep the job beyond this season considering the lack of Europe. And a proper go in one domestic cup. I wont be tolerating 'small squad' or any other similar bullsh1t excuse tbh if this type of thing comes to pass this season.

I think it should be by the end of the window. I don't think it will be due to the underperformance of those in power during this transfer window.

Style of play is very important for me though
we not at Barca or Real's level atm obviously
but they have to win in an attacking style & i think it should be the same for Liverpool
i agree if we don't improve this season Rodgers should be gone
but i really hope he suceeds because his style of play is very good imo

They had to plough in £50 Million odd of their own funds last year to keep cash flow going. You know as well as anybody else how bad H&G were. There are some posters who think everything should be rosey, it should, but we wasted big money on Downing and Carroll, remember we paid the whole £35 Million up front on Carroll, in a lump sum, a massive mistake.

Many supporters just dismiss that, all they see if figures, it comes out of somebody's pocket! Unfortunately the club isn't just recovering from H&G, that would have been done a year or 2 ago, we now have to recover from a fortune spent on Carroll and Downing, we got about half of the fee back, but they seriously disappointed on the wages paid. The owners would have expected CL money since.

It isn't just about the money spent, it's how it could have been used elsewhere, we bought Coutinho and Sturridge for less than half and show more potential.
