After the andy Carroll and Stuart Downing fiasco sometimes not signing a player might actually be a good thing.

Execute better next time rather than don't play again imo.

Seems not signing players is cool at the moment:

    - he's not worth that fee;
    - he's not worth those wages,
    - he wouldn't suit our style of play;

And then we can continue being the shrewd cats that passed on the Dempsey deal.

Yeah, we really never got over the whole Dempsey thing, huge loss to us!

He failed his Medical due to some Problem with his Teeth that could indicate potential Spinal Problems.

His teeth looked alright to me when he was signing that contract?

    You don't rate Willian?

    Missed this, apologies.

My point is that people will change their tune if/when we don't sign sign a couple of quality players to go straight into our starting 11.

Exactly the same way all those who thought there was no way Rodgers was good enough to be manager of Liverpool, changed their mind as soon as he got a job.

    NO NO NO

Nobody changed their mind Alan , people just decided to give him a chance & time to implement his ideas, something you & a few others didn't do.

I thought the general consensus was we should overpay for Willian and offer him all the wages he wants?

Yip. And I think people should stop on about general consensuses of posters in a sarcastic way. It's been done to death.

If by Mk2, you mean they've made some serious adjustments to the previous failed model.

That actually happen with him and AC Milan.

They probably did that to bring down his Price, when they were trying to Buy him from Porto.

The Deal fell off and he got Signed by Lyon. :D

So people who didn't think we should give him a chance to manage Liverpool, decided to give him a chance.

Otherwise known as changing their minds?

When did I say that? I'd have no problem paying for a good player, not someone like Millner though.

No that was Mk, Lloyd was very strident in that opinion.

I don't think someone like Milner would be executing much better though. William is a different story. We need real quality signings, not more squad filler.

Good evening gentlemen , thieves and scholars . First post here . Long time lurker . Find some of the opinions incredibly insightful some not so much and seem to revel in Liverpool's shortcomings more than positive steps made .
Looking forward to posting here and trying to keep up with these threads .

People may have expressed doubt when he was linked with the job , that's understandable - it happens all the time with players & staff etc..
However when he was actually appointed people then got behind the appointment like they would with any new player signing. I'm sure if he bombs this season then those very same people who got behind him will turn and start to ask serious questions. This has all been pointed out to you before though so I don't expect you to get it.

Amazing insight, that wasn't a minority opinion at the time, that was the vast majority opinion, we made a major feck up, think that was what the whole apology letter from Henry was about.

Think they've rectified that whole episode by now, bought Coutinho, Sturridge, Aspas, Alberto, kept Suarez and might get Willian. Let go Carroll, Downing and Shelvey in the process.

It was a major feck up, at least not as bad as Carroll and Downing!

They didn't "express doubt", most thought he wasn't good enough. There's a difference.

It's funny that the two main protagonists for us signing a big name sexy player of the ilk of Hulk,Alonso,Ireland now are salivating at signing James Miner, have yous ever broke out of character and disagreed with each other per chance, Al and LL if that's not obvious.

If we sign a player who we think is crap will we cheer/support him ? YES

If we hire a manager we didn't want will we cheer/support him ? YES

Pretty simple stuff, it's the basics of being a supporter.

Did they though ? Who said he wasn't good enough that is now behind the manager? I know i wasn't totally enamoured with the idea of Rodgers or Martinez at the start but having read up on him & what he was about I was totally willing to get behind him. I know around the time of his appointment Opr put up an excellent article about him that put my mind to ease somewhat.

Why haven't the club announced the Cissokho signing? Maybe a double unveiling on the cards?

Expect loan signing of Cissokho to be announced by #LFC on Tuesday morning. He passed his medical today.

    Almeria now 3-2 down.

    I've never seen worse defending

Comical stuff at the end. I was just thinking before it went 2-2 that these might actually have a decent chance of staying up.

Good debut from Suso. The thing I would say is that we already know his quality on the ball. He needs to though get more involved in games. He's good enough that he should be going looking for the ball all the time, demanding it off others like Coutinho is currently doing in the first team for us. That probably comes across incredibly harsh given he got an assist, indirect assist and generally had a fine game.

Sounds about right, that's what winds me up most on here, is people supposedly Liverpool supporters constantly trash talking the club, leave that to other teams supporters.
