Commuting from Dublin 13

I live in baldoyle and I am starting next September 2014.
I am wondering if anyone commutes from here and how so you find it.
Or if anyone is in my situation so we can meet up and at least know someone for next year ?

You can use the 17a from Howth Junction station to the Blanchardstown Centre or you can get off a bit early and go through Corduff (or get 38, but hardly worth it).

Alternatives would be bus or train (change to the 38 at Navan Road Parkway station) to the city centre and on to Blanchardstown.

Put your exact locations and relevant dates and times into www.a-b.ie and tweak the settings.

How long of a walk from blanchardtown centre to ITB ?

you could always look into car pooling, I know at least 2 people on my course in Baldoyle area that drive in together. I go in with a girl from my course and we split the cost of petrol, just make sure if you are getting a lift of someone they are reliable

I get the 17a from the Tonlegee Road every day myself. If you're looking to get in for 9am you'd need to be on the 7:45am bus to make sure you'd be in on time (the stupid turn into Beaumont kills like 15 minutes, such a waste). Basically during rush our get the bus an hour and twenty/fifteen (depending on the timetable) and you'll be in in loads of times. Non rush hour traffic be on the bus an hour before you're to be in and should be grand.

Takes me about 10 minutes max to walk from the NAC to college.

Don't bother with the whole bus into town and bus out deal, I did it for two years and it sucked so hard. You'll literally be on a bus nearly four hours a day, though the change to most of the 38 routes cut down the travel time a bit thankfully.

Instead of talking the left after you cross the road you just walk through the little path, you'll know it when you see it. The bus stop is just on the main road too obviously

You said in a previous post it says on google maps 33 minutes is it actually 33 or is that just for a as low walker ?

I know I'll take some flack for this... but for your own sake.. do not walk through Corduff. Its the estate between aquatic centre and itb. Ok during day time usually ... but seriously just not worth the risk... I'd go to centre Via bus if you can and take itb shuttle from there... or walk the blanch road.

It is a lot safer.

Actually.. I take it back... the shuttle bus passes the nac these days based on route map.. that'd be perfect so long as the times match up

Seriously? Been walking through there (admittedly never later than about 7:30pm or 8pm) since the 17a has been running to Blanch and never had a problem. Also never heard of anyone who has tbh.

yeah I don't mean to rabble rouse.. I mean I walked through it too.. before I heard from lads who lived there to get moving. I know a good few peeps that lived there with their family while attending college and they were fine..

But there have actually been plenty of stabbings in the last 3 years alone.. just google it. As I said.. fine.. in the day time. But if your running late. .end up wandering through at 10 or 11.. things are getting risky.

I'm saying it's crime central.. plenty of worse places in town itself.

The blanch road itself is not without issue, I was asked a few times by dudes in fiat punto's if I wanted to "buy a laptop yeah?"

Nothing bad ever happened to me.. I'm just saying if your new to the place... which most first years people would be... play it safe and avoid corduff if you can.... the fact the shuttle bus goes by the NAC should leave no reason to be wandering through the place other then aboard that....

You are walking around with a laptop bag.... that most likely has a laptop in it...>.>

The general rule of thumb is.. quiet built up area anywhere.. at night...your taking a risk brah..just the chances of things happening go up a bit around there
