In fairness that sort of game is what we need.

Its all well and good winning with beautiful football and sinking a few goals.
But its just as important if not more to force 1 goal when playing such a good defensive team.

I honestly feel that's the sort of game we would of drew in previous years.
Luck was with us and against us.

An important 3 points lets kick off from here.

Liverpool played well. I've no clue what Agger was at there though. Good old simon eh? Pepe who? :P

I wanted to smack Sterling for giving away the free that led to the handball.

    Poor mistake from him.

My only fear is that we seem to base a lot of our game around closing down players quickly and high up the pitch, a bit like last season. This works great when players are fresh, but can the intensity that we're playing at be sustained for the entire season?

I hate using excuses, but Begovic was unreal. I feel bad for Aspas, but his shots should have been put out of Begovic's reach.

    Shakey win, but a win.

I felt the West Brom and particularly the City game set the tone for last season...

Great positive start this time around

YES! Get in! Gunna enjoy the rest of the games now.

Delighted to get that out of the way and what an end with Mignolet! Buzzing after that!

What I really wish would happen now is that those that shouted Lloyd and co down over the past 18 months when they were calling Pepe out as being finished at Liverpool would hold their hands up and acknowledge that he was right.

His call on Pepe was treated in the exact same way that his uncertainties about Rodgers and concerns about the owners were.

    He really was..

If we can add a little quality up front + Suarez. We could have a very good season.

We looked a bit more confident today than the end of last season, even when Stoke had a bit of the ball. I think we would have conceded in the past. Still a few teething problems there, but was very happy with Toure from what I saw. Could only get the last 35 mins. Mignolet did his homework on Walters, fair play. Still a player or two short imo, but very happy to start the season off with a win. :)

I'm worried about our goal difference. Even at this early stage the table suggests it might come down to that.

    Important 3 points.

Still so many of the flaws of last season apparent though, dominated the game yet just fell over the finish line.

Need 1 or 2 more goal scorers which would put games like today beyond doubt.

Mignolet impressive after a shaky start. Enrique and Toure excellent.

Gerrard did well apart from 2 hollywood balls that were way off the radar.

Lucas' best game in two years IMO.

Henderson gives his absolute all, think he will be benched if attacking reinforcements arrive. He's just lacking that little bit going forward.

Aspas was impressive and will be a nice option this season.

    Coutinho is absolutely top class.

    Roll on Villa next weekend.

Toure was class today I thought, shame he didn't score for my fantasy team!

Enrique was his usual, beastly at the back , bit donkish when attacking but I do feel safe when he's on the scene defending.

Arsenals goal difference should be -30...

    or is it -60?
