Hi there folks. Had root canal done on my front tooth on Wednesday, everything went great and didnt feel a thing. But 24 hours later I had a throbbing pain and swelling, and when I looked in the mirror this morning my gum over the tooth is inflamed and has a abscess (little white head on the abscess) so I am just wondering is this normal? Cheers

    No, not normal

if it was present before the treatment, then the root canal treatment may cure it and it will go away, maybe not

if it was not present before treatment and has only developed since then, the it is likely a failed root canal treatment with infection persisting....

Best to see your dentist to confirm...

Of course it is not good to leave an infection in your mouth..... however, if there is a fistula, then the infection is draining and not "welling up" Lots of salty water rinses and see your dentist as soon as you can...
