One thing I always meant to do was take the mechanism out of a crappy lightgun and put it into an airsoft gun instead.

It first came to mind when playing Crisis Zone on the ps2. Felt wrong playing it with a gCon when the arcade version has an mp5.

You could buy the aimtrak kit and fit it to an airsoft rifle easilly enough I'd say.

I have a full folding stock AK47 in the apartment somewhere (I don't get the time to airsoft anymore) and that would be fantastic to use on gun games.

    Replica firearms.

For those times when just pointing a finger and making "pew pew" noises won't do.

If you've never stalked your fellow man through a forest dressed in full fatigues while brandishing a 3-4 foot long rifle you haven't lived. :pac: great craic so it is. Incredible adrenaline rush.

But yeah, I don't think it'd be too difficult to gut a cheapo airsoft gun, transplant in GCon innards and spray it blue.

The hardest part would probably be getting the light receiver lens working properly (as it would be a lot bigger than the muzzle of an airsoft gun)

Sounds like the making of a kickstarter project :)

Well, I've played paintball in the Wicklow forests, good fun.
For a real squeeze of the adrenals try having a resident try to kill you with his bare hands, clears the mind of distractions rather effectively....

Got Little Big Planet Vita, Uncharted 3 and Sly Raccoon 3 for the PS3, all full but promo copies, from a guy on Jamma+, all for €20.
    Happy with that!

Lots of Carboot goodness, highlights are 32 in 1 gb cart , AVP trilogy and Descent 2 , Gauntlet II on the NES(cheers los lobos!)Psyvariar and I get attacked by a flying Gundam!

Love me Descent 2, had the both of them and they were incredible fun.
Haven't gone back to them since then though, so that's about 15 years Descent-less!

Psyvariar is pretty good, originally on the G-Net system, and I had it there, pretty neat.
The G-Net system is essentially a PS on a mobo so it's an accurate port of the code rather than emu or a copy.
Ton of games have a Tate mode, very good it is too, started on the 32 bit systems with the likes of Raiden, although some European ports strip out the Tate mode, along with the Japanese voice work, story and who knows what else.

Went into xtravision today and picked up 4 PS2 games. LOTS of shovelware there though to sift through but I got:

    MGS Snake eater

I'm going to go on a MGS buzz some time after Zelda. Just have to buy the MGS game for the gamecube. I heard its an updated version of the first one both graphically and control wise so lookin forward to that as I never finished the first one on the PS1.

    Worms 4

Think I played a worms game years ago found it fun. Cheap so said why not.

    God of war 2

Havent played the god of war games so should be interesting. People seem to love them.

    Psyvariar

Thanks to Dr Bobs post just before this one I picked this up. Would probably have passed it by otherwise as I'd never heard of it.

They were all 6 euro each but with 50% off so 3 euro each in reality.

Then I also picked up a GBA AC - DC power adapter for a euro. I dont even own a GBA but for a euro.. "alright".

Oh and a wii gun peripheral for another couple of quid. Just a plastic yolk to hold the wiimote.

Anyway all in all a decent auld way to spend my lunch time today.

Don't bother with the Gamecube version. It's vastly inferior to the PS1 original. The PS1 game is what you should be buying. The GC version is basically the PS1 game with the MGS2 engine. It's badly coded so there's lots of slowdown. Also since you now have first person aiming it totally breaks the game and makes it far too easy. On top of that they utterly destroyed the cutscenes by turning them into over the top nonsense, and that's over the top by MGS standards. On top of that it's quite expensive and not worth the money it goes for.

If you've not played MGS before then start with the PS1 original. It's still superb.

Fair enough looks like I'm on the look out for a copy of MGS for the original playstation so.

    thanks retrogamer.

I have 2 at home alread and now 3 so I'll eventually get round to giving them a proper go.

My time playing games seems to decrease each week yet my buying seems to have heightened if anything!

Might be worth looking out for the legacy compilation for PS3 which has all the games in the series other than the Gameboy Colour games (pity because it's superb). It even has the MSX games as well.

Edit: Seems it only gives you a PSN code for MGS 1

It's also worth looking out for the VR Missions mission disc which I had a blast with. So much fun and the dev team went wild with what they can do with the MGS gameplay engine.

If I had a PS3 I would but Im a 360 guy. I couldnt justify having another console to be honest. I'm surprised the wife has let me have as many under the tv as there is. PS2, N64, 360 and Wii as of like last week or something. ****ing wires everywhere!! Need to spend a day sorting it all out actually.

Edit I know my little collection more likely pales hugely in comparison to set up you guys must have but to be perfectly honest I've more than enough to keep me occupied and interested in the small amount of collecting that I do.

I was at the dublin comic con yesterday...really good and I picked up a few bits a pieces but I got something that will make one poster here quite jelly!

    Holy crap dude! that's Amazing!

How the hell did you get that?! Artist is Mark Simpson (AKA 'Jock') by the way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,798 ✭✭✭Jack burton

I actually got it in a comic shop in dundrum

Yeah they had 4 altogether, the 2 jock ones and this one

    SC585-StarCut-PREO.jpg

Went with that one simple because I just thought it was a little bit more impressive and stood a bit better

He's got some great stuff in that shop, heart attack prices too. Amazing framed Superman poster inside the door, don't think it for sale tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,798 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Yeah there is a nice few bits though but prices are through the roof. The Standee cost me 40...Which I didnt think was too bad since its something I would never buy online and I wanted a treat

That shop and most of the stalls at the con were doing a dollars to euro rate on all the books etc

Been after this for ages, it never came up at the right price though until now :)

Back from when EA made their own games...

Was only looking at my Megadrive carts the other day & noticed some of the classics from the era EA had their name to. Road Rash games, Desert/Jungle/Urban strike, etc

Imagine if Haunting was made today by EA...
