Getting decent boxed snes games is a pain alright, I ordered a few protective cases there a week or two ago but they still haven't arrived yet!

I got a boxed set of the dkc trilogy from the states recently all complete for 60$ which was a good deal I thought. I got a few other boxed ones like zelda and terranigma and a few more common titles.

I think I'm gonna go down down the route of buying those plastic cases and printing out artwork. I'd much prefer that than stacks of 8 carts on top of each other like I do at home, doesn't show off the games at all

I don't think super evermore is much good tbh... Lovely graphics but parts of the game are ridiculous to figure out, forgettable soundtrack too, if you could call it one. The weapon level up system is really flawed aswell, the dialogue is annoying too. Come to think of it, I don't like that game at all

Sure that Terranigma isn't much cope, I'll pm you me details and ill relieve you of it.
    Btw get the boxes!

I'm actually quite enjoying Secret of Evermore now. Some of the music in it is really great, best part about the game so far in my opinion.

The weapon leaving up does my head in alright though. Most of the time I attack things and my dog finishes them off - so my weapon doesn't get any XP from it.

Just picked up another Snes classic which has been on my radar for years. Played through it on a flashcart/DS a long time ago, but want to give it a proper run on original hardware.

Wasn't the PS2 port of Crazy Taxi awful?

I quite liked it. The Xbox 360 port on the dreamcast collection isn't great. No offspring and no real life places.

I never really got to play much of it. I remember having a few goes i'm a mates house with a few beers way back when, but that's all. Worth grabbing now to test drive if nothing else. Good chance myself and my friends will get some craic out of it.

Indeed! If there's a band which need to be erased from history it's The Offspring :pac:

Like Greenday their early stuff was good in particular their secon and third albums Ignition and Smash were great but then it went commercial radio friendly rubbish. You cant blame them considering im sure they made a lot more money from the later years but my god it was awful. Pretty fly for a white guy for example is just cringeworthy stuff.

Early greenday was similar up as far as an including dookie they were great. After that it all fell apart. Insomniac was their best album by a country mile but sure its mainly unheard of.

You know, it was the same with Westlife, when they lost that edginess and went commercial they lost a lot of their hardcore fans, fans who'd been with them through the tough drug fueled days in Sligo...

    Bros FTW though...

Ah yes, and there's another band which should be erased from memory. :pac:

Here's an unanswerable question - which band has the most annoying lead singer?

    Gree...no wait the Offspr...no Greenda...ah! >head explodes<

Never minded a pretentious twat being the front of a band, I always liked Prince in spite of the fact he's as flakey as Cadburys on his best days.
But that bloody Offspring song, every time I played Crazy Taxi I hear that opening line and I want to hurt something.
    It's like a meme...

Prince. Immensely talented but what a freak show.

As for the greenday and the offspring thing i think its kinda like me hating U2. Nothin really to do with the band although i do think theyre pretty generic rock but outside of that bono is just such a prick i cant stand them.

I suppose it can be the same with games, you don't have to like Fish to appreciate Fez, in fact one can avoid any mention or discussion of the man without affecting game play at all!
Romero seemed to be an ego maniac who, post Quake, was a total disaster.
Molyneaux is another one, since Fable he has failed to create a single game that has lived up to a single word he has said.

A friend of mine used to be in contact with Romero for a good while (might even still be). I always remember her telling me how she sent him a pair of knickers.

I think your friend might be sharing just a little too much there...

Unfortunately since fable he's been allowed to talk. He should just shut up and not talk until the game is in alpha.

Speaking of John Romero, I feel sorry for John Romero during the development of Daikatana. It was mostly down to arrogance but his main problem was hiring only modders to work on the game, modders that couldn't work as a team which lead to the team falling apart. Unfortunately that and a few other mistakes meant his name has been dirt in the industry ever since. There's a wonderful article in gamespot about daikatana which unfortunately you can only view on the waybackmachine. It's pretty much essential reading if you are into videogame history:

Always wanted to know the craic with Fahrenheit, so I'll look forward to checking it out over the weekend.

Just like every David Cage game it starts great until it takes a nose dive into bat ****, pants on head, stupidity. Still worth playing though.

I've never played any of his stuff. I think it seems quite pretentious. At least this one looks like it features some gameplay though, as opposed to Heavy Rain which just looks like a series of QTEs.

The problem is he tries to go for pretentious but then he remembers he's a terrible writer and it just comes off embarassing and amateurish.

I wasn't meant to spend anything since I'm going to a UK con soon, I was very bold...
But Flower, Sun and Rain was 5.99 complete in Gamestop!

What's with these developers thinking they're rockstars.

Bunch of nerds, should be locked in a room and force-fed Coke and pizza until good games emerge.

    Yeah TMNT tournament fighters,
    Donkey Kong Country,Mortal Kombar1,2 and 3.Super Mario all stars.Lion King,Killer instinct,Super Mario World.Wrestlemania the arcade game.
Etc was in there.I have a converter to play my pal games on it I just need to get a US to UK adaptor that changes the voltage : )

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,326 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The convertor might not work for a lot of games. I found most Nintendo and later Konami games won't work unless you have a frequency switch to change from 50 to 60 on boot.

I have a pal snes aswell.
Most of my games are NTSC.
I have been using the coverter
    on the pal system.

I used a standard US to UK adapter
to check did the game console work.
It dosen't work unless I blew the socket
    but I didnt see/hear anything.
