Anyone with experience in replacing a micro fuse on a mac mini. it the one near the usb ports. I was thinking of soldering a small ohm resistor in its place.

Would this be ok or would it do more harm than good. ?

Any info would be helpful. If you know anyone who could repair it cheaply and also local to Blanch

A 0.5 -1.0 ohm resistor will allow the unit to run low power usb devices

Any bigger will drop too much voltage, but it really should be 5ohms to prevent any damage to the motherboard, if you have a faulty usb plugin (which caused the fuse to blow?)

will the port still work if an externally powered hub is plugged in ?

I will try an external powered hub with some usb devices, Keyboard, mouse etc.

The resistor on the board is very tiny. any ideas how to bridge or solder in a new smd,,, or other component.
