I seen a cyclist on the motorway the other day. A proper cyler too not just a lad on a mountain bike. Is their fines for that? Probably not as dodgy as the people parking in the shadow under motorway bridges the last while. I presume it was to stay out of the sun. A very black felter passat was the worst, almost invisible until about 1-200 metres away.

    Road rage on push bikes:

I saw 2 cyclists fighting with each other on bachelors walk this morning. I was on the upper deck of a Dublin bus looking down at them. We were moving slowly and the second cyclist was attempting to overtake the first cyclist (even with the bus so close). The second cyclist would speed up, the first guy would move out away from the kerb to prevent the overtake then the second guy would apply his v-brakes to this horrendous squeeling sound.. the first guy kept shouting at him "Keep Back"..."Keep Back" and waved his right hand uncontrollably.. presumably because of our bus that was there and he didn't want your man overtaking so close to it... it was like too old grannys fighting with each other. Cycle rage.

Thats the way I take petrol out.... Either that or I'll take the tank off and drain it that way :)

A siphon isn't dear and a handy thing to have :D just take the pump out and siphon the petrol from there. Be sure to jack the car up to get the most out of it (you won't get it all out by siphon hence why I remove the tank totally sometimes)

Take the pump out and try scooping it if you cant get a silhon :)

I heard someone say it was good there alright. Didn't want to say earlier cause I'd not been myself.

I never went karting before so I can't say it's the track because I'v nothing to compare too.
I loved my first experience at karting so definitely will do it again.
loved how they over steer so easy it makes it so much fun correcting it.
Last time I had so much fun was going flat out on quad out in oz after cattle every day.

I drove a V6 today... I wonder if I'd fit one in the MX5, not that it can't get the tail out under its own power. :pac:

Need at least double the power for the effort involved in a full swap and you'll not see an American yoke near my car. :p

If I ever do swap it (probably wont) I'd want an SR20.
I'll get it on the road first though.

I assume you've seen this Cian?

I hadn't seen that particular one before, what a wet dream of a car. :D
It's not a cheap swap but it's probably the cheapest way of getting a safe, reliable 250bhp in an NA. You're talking internal work anything over 200 on the 1.6.

    Maybe someday. :)

I have the idea of a TD04 and about 180bhp in my head, in a car that weights less than the turbo, I'd say that'll be plenty. :p

Surely the MX-5 would suit a supercharger much better than a turbo?

I was thinking of this last night but I'm a bit clueless on SC's.
You're talking less lag low and but less high end power over all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,920 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

A supercharger shouldn't have any lag at all since you're not waiting for it to spool. It runs off the engine via a belt or chain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,289 ✭✭✭Veloce

Is there HP loss to run the supercharger since it's ran off the engine? (in comparison to a turbo)

Probably an N/A loss but when the SC kicks in, it'd more than make up for it.

You can just swap pulleys too remember that :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,729 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

A quick search is pointing to more money, less power but a quicker response and it's more difficult to fit.

A small, fast spooling turbo just makes the most sense, which is why I guess there's loads of them around.

And then a bigger turbo to take over from the smaller turbo :pac:
